Wigan Warriors are delighted to unveil a massive line up of entertainment and activities for all the family at Saturday’s 2009 Fan Day, supported by Warburtons, at The Co-operative Community Stadium, Orrell.

The fun gets underway at 12noon when the gates open on the former Orrell RUFC ground, and fans will be able to tackle some massive rugby league inflatable’s and enjoy all the fun of the fairground with mini rides and games.

The main arena will be focussed around the Main Stage which will see fantastic up-and-coming local bands ‘David Rybka & The Victorian Dad Band’ (1pm) and the ironically named ‘This Devastated Fan’ (2pm) showcasing their talents.

Also on stage will be Max with his helpers ‘Rambling Rob’ and ‘Miss Wigan Warrior’ Gillian Battersby, who will host fun and games throughout the afternoon, with the Walkabout Warrior Girls on hand to show off their moves.

The entire first team squad will be on hand from 1pm to meet fans, sign autographs and pose for photos, whilst some of the squad will also help out with an interactive fun skills coaching clinic on the main pitch between 1.30 – 2.15pm (no pre-registration required – just turn up on the day).

Hot and cold food will be available as well as drinks (no alcohol), ice cream and sweets, whilst Warriors World will be selling merchandise and fans will be able to have their photos taken with the engage Super League trophy by a professional photographer.

The main part of the afternoon see’s the Warriors Reserve Team take on Warrington at 3.30pm with special pre-match and half time entertainment from the Walkabout Warrior Girls.

Parking will not be available on site however fans are directed to park for free at either the Hewitt Business Park or Orrell Water Park, both of which are a 5 minute walk from The Co-operative Community Stadium.

The event has been kindly supported by family bakers, Warburtons and speaking on their behalf Lee Pendlebury from the Bolton Bakery said;

“We are delighted to be supporting the Club with its family Fan Day this Saturday. It promises to be a great day for all the family. At Warburtons we encourage and promote healthy active lifestyles. The Club has a proud heritage and shares our passion for helping those in the local community in which it operates.”

Tickets are now on sale priced at just £2 for adults and seniors and £1 for juniors from the DW Stadium Ticket Office and Ticket Hotline on 0871 66-33-552. Tickets will also be available on the day at the gates and any proceeds from the Warriors Fan Day will go to the newly formed Wigan Warriors Community Foundation (charity number 112900icon_cool.gif which has been established to support grassroots Rugby League across Wigan and the surrounding area.

So ST holders will have to pay to watch the reserves? Not complaining - just checking.

Nope. Don't do that many away games mate. Far too expensive. Starting to get a bit pi*sed off with them at the minute anyway.

My kids have been given free tickets as they are booked on a Warriors summer camp.

Unfortunately it's St.Pats tourney on Sat so we can't make it, though it sounds like it might be a good day.

Bout a year after me then.

The £2 admission btw is for charity as I understand.

Shame about the stop start sun / rain but I thought it was a good day and nice to see the players in such good and friendly spirits.

No sign of Nobby or Lennegan though (or did I just not see them)?

Nice to tie in the festivities and the reserve game too - good idea!

What are other peoples opinions of the day? icon_wink.gif

Good fun. I had a chat with almost all the players. I asked pat what he though of my 'Superman' t-shirt and whether or not I should get 'Richards: 5' on the back of it, he just laughed it off. It was really nice to see the players milling around talking to the fans, having pics taken and signing merchandise. It was a real fun, easygoing atmosphere and something i'd like to see repeated yearly - if not bi-yearly. Didn't see Bailey around anywhere which I thought was strange.
