| Who cares? He's a lad passionate about his rugby, its a shame it didnt work out for him at wigan but its good too see he;s got his confidence back and playing to his potential. We're a better team without him and Wire are a better team with him, winners all round.

It's amazing what some players can do without being made a scapegoat for everything at a club and given a bit of time & ENCOURAGEMENT!
My Wire colleague at work also said he was MOM today.

| I hope Mathers does turn it around and recaptures the form he showed at Leeds. He never got going for us and the dye was cast so matter what he did there was no coming back.
2 stinkers a season vs us and 1 in the CC Semi will do for me, rest of the time I hope he does alright!

My Wire colleague at work also said he was MOM today.'" He was ecellent today for us. I must admit when we signed him I was concerned as I had seen him play a few games at Wigan and read comments on here, but he has been an excellent signing for us. Similarly with Mick Higham, he has also been a revelation.
It is clear that sometimes things don't work out for a player at a certain club, and that obviously isn't because they are poor players.
With regards to Mathers I always just saw him as a normal fullback, but the way he joins the line as a ball handler and kicker has surprised me. His ability to take the ball on the full and turn defence in attack has been brilliant for us.
As has been said, you are better off without him, we are better with him, so we are all happy.

| Things are going well for the lad and i'm made up for him. He never gave less then 100% for Wigan and thats more then can be said of a lot of the players that have turned out for us in the past few years. Things didn't work out for him here but i would never challenge his commitment.
Good lad.

How wrong you are... the lad has turned it around very quickly, he has been very good since joing us and the last couple of games has been excellent... he was simply outstanding yesterday. Defiantely MOM!

| Well I know I'm not alone in wishing him all the best. He desperately wanted it to work out at Wigan and, for whatever reasons, it just didn't. This was a good move for both clubs and the player and, for once, one that seems to be nothing but positive. Good luck at Warrington Ritchie.

That must be it! We need to stop critisciosing Feka, Fielden, Riddell, Ainscough, Roberts, TL, J Tomkins, Smith etc and we will become world beaters.
I suggest the criticism Mathers got on an Internet forum (and I was actually one who was prepared to give him a chance) has nothing to do with any good form at Wire.
He isn't the first player to leave here in recent years and get a new lease of life elsewhere is he? It used to be the the other way around. We took seemingly average players and turned them into better players.

AJ is spot on. Mathers was hounded and abused by the Wigan fans everytime the ball went near him in a game. Whenever the ball was kicked towards him the fans would start to groan in anticipation of him making an error. You could tell by the way Mathers would hesitate picking a loose ball up that he was scared to death of making a mistake so much so that he was trying so hard not to make an error that he would do. His confidence was shot to pieces. I suggest you try playing fullback with 12000+ of your own so called fans mocking you everytime the ball goes near you.

| Lessons to be learned in regards to Pryce?
Can’t see some people on here practising what they preach however.
Fail to develop Pryce and he WILL come back to haunt us
