These 2 are just as bad as the other overated aussies/kiwis that have playes FOR Wigan this last few seasons! again brian noble and lenagan were banging on how they were going to improve the team but im afraid Riddell is about as slow as a tortiose and Roberts is now better than Paul Koloi Lenagan said at the fans forum at the beggining of the year that Amos was going to be as good as Jason Robinson as his style was similer! If i was Noble i would just bring Shaun Ainscough as permanent winger and MCiloram as the permanent hooker until next season

Imo Roberts was possibly your best player last night. I cant understand how he can be criticised but not Phelps or Richards who did nothing.

Amos Roberts was our best player last night IMO.

regardless of how Roberts played I think the issue lies within in the signing of Roberts.

Let's look at the team when we signed him and roberts.

Were we short of wingers when he signed? No we had
Pryce
Richards
Ainscough
Phelps

Who could all play wing. We didn't really need a winger.

What other issues are there with this signing;
Salary cap- his wage could go towards a class hb or prop.
Quota space- he takes up an aussie spot.

Roberts is 29 this year he's on 4 year deal meaning we'll have a 33yr old winger, speed fades over the years. In the next 4 yrs you would expect ainscough to come into his own, perhaps pryce as well. Not forgetting Richards is younger than Roberts.

Considering all these factors I don't think it was a well calculated signing.

The point is, he needs the ball ! I can only remember once on friday when he got it with space ahead of him and he did well to keep in the field of play.

The games against Wakefield (league) and Catalans away, he got plenty of ball and made breaks which resulted in tries in both.

He is second in line breaks only behind Ainscough in our team. Which IMO is pretty good given the amount of ball the team give him.

Both players have got a lot of potential and both seem to be trying but things aren't going their way.

Riddell needs to lose some weight and get his fitness up asap.

roberts is gonna be a quality wigan player, he will be a firm fans fav, you dont buy a player who scored 70 odd tries in 140 games for sydney, he just hasnt had that bit of luck yet to get him goin
