KR brought just shy of 2k according to Bilko on here the other day.

The weather will have knocked at least 2k off imo because it was truely awful but the crowds overall have been a slight worry.

I'd expect them to improve towards the back end of the year though with us now looking like a decent team and a couple of big games against Leeds and Wire to come.

It was inevitable that the crowds were going to start tailing off if Wigan consistantly failed to improve. The fans have done their bit, following the team loyally through dreadful times. But Wigan fans have a pedigree - they won't accept a permanent slot in the lower half of the table.

The club really has its work cut out now. A handful of wins are not good enough. We have to recruit - in terms of both coaching personnel and playing personnel, to a standard that proves we are deadly serious about trying to regain our crown.

Definately.

We attracted a lot of fickle fans and luckily they have disappeared for now. No doubt they will return when we start winning or they get free tickets.

Why is it lucky they've disappeared? Any fan, fickle or not, puts money into the club.

There was something to play for. Now we just appear to be a mid table team.

We are also going through a recession, so it will be harder for families to afford to go a game.

If our family of four, wanted to go to the KR game on Friday it would of cost at least £100.

Probably because fighting against relegation was, in it's own way, exciting. What a lot of people won't accept and will stop going to games for is mediocrity, mid-table poor RL will not pull in the fans, neither will win a game lose a game runs.

Given the poor start to this season and some of the poor RL on offer it is hardly surprising that fans numbers are down. I suspect a decent winning run might get the average back up a little but I think some fans are voting with their feet at the moment.

That included tickets and petrol, and then on top of that trying to get time off work is hard too.

Especially sometimes if the game is on tv. It is much easier to watch it on tv with a few cans and save yourself some money.

I undertsand what you're saying but if nobody is buying shirts anymore they have to do something to ignite interest in them. Even JJB are selling them now.

I think our crowds are holding up actually. Maybe slightly down but considering the play off debarcle last year, which annoyed many, and the financial struggles at the moment we are holding up.

At the moment the average is 14,100 which is 2.8% Down. They are making a big effort for the Leeds match and also Warrington come here in August so if we can get anywhere around 14,000 I think that will be a great achievement.
