How many points should we have won that by today? 30? 40? We were clearly by far the more talented side out there but I always had the impression we might blow it.

Stupid offloads at the wrong times, conceding daft penalties, poor ball retention - we need to play with more intelligence and consistency.

I appluad our side today for the sporadic quality we showed and our effort and desire to win the game. But I want our side to do themselves justice more often and play to their potential and most of all cut out the brain explosions.

Wakefield are a tough team to brake down, we certainly weren't clinical but I think we have all seen allot sloppier performances like that from Wigan at the start of the season.

What frustrated me was we tried to play 'up the jumper' in the second half but we did not seem to cut out the mistakes by doing this. After we we went 10 nil down in the first half I thought we played really well in periods which helped us take control.

I know the conditions where poor but had we gone out and tried to play a bit of rugby when we were camped on their line at the start of the second half we could have maybe had the game done and dusted sooner.

All in all a poor game with far too many mistakes from both sides. The best team won though.

come on fellas, its a win over a good side in a knock out comp. it was a sloppy game from both sides. but we still won the game. thats all that matters.

Did any one notice JK reaction after Wakey scored in the second half. It was just after their try from a grubber kick. Camera went on John Kear and what on earth was he doing. Never seen a reaction like that after a try

I've just posted similar in another thread, we dominated but came close to loosing. Against Saints last month we dominated and lost.

Still, we're heading in the right direction...

I'm not being deliberately controversial but that performace, the quality on show, the surroundings, the TV presentation, everything resembled some circa 1970's amateur set-up.

You have to watch games on the BBC through your fingers waiting for the next gaff or embarrasment.

I completely agree, I'm certainly not becoming one of these doom-mongers on here who can't celebrate a win. I'm chuffed with it but I just feel we could have made it so much easier on ourselves.

The team just needs to get a bit smarter - if we can achieve that we could have a very successful side.

On a seperate note, there were some god awful decisions from the officials today.

you are right in what you say. but in a knock out comp, all that matters is a win. If we can cut the silly moments in the league then it will spill over into the cup. i do think that most of our mistakes were born out of trying to keep the ball alive as opposed lazy penaltys like lying on in the tackle.

also i think we only misses three tackles today. that is outstanding.

Likewise, delighted with the win I think we are turning a corner, we just have to prove this with some consistancy now. I was not having a moan I was just merely reflecting on what i thought of the game.

I agree with this but today was simply about the result, next week we need to up our performance again.
