| Good player with a lot of potential but....
Wow so frustrating to watch. I'm pretty sure he only passed once (yes once) ALL night.
Surely the coaches are getting into this with him but it's a recurring theme keeping hold of the ball and stepping or running straight, instead of drawing people in and passing( or passing full stop)
If he learns that art then we'll have a real player on our hands.

| Is he really a centre? I'm not convinced.

| Last night was a tough game to judge a centre as the rush defence was well employed by HKR.
He is also relatively new to the role, if the Wigan hierarchy think it will be his best position I'm willing to go with that but he does look uncomfortable at times.
If everyone is fully fit he doesn't get into the team IMO, what he is, is a very good squad player who can cover a lot of positions in the case of injury

| I'm by no means writing him off because he's 21, has got bags of potential and is a great natural athlete, but I'm getting more and more frustrated with him every week, particularly playing centre. I raised an eyebrow at the signings of both Clubb and Sarginson because I didn't feel either was earmarked for a specific place within our squad and they were coming here more because of their previous connections with Ian Lenegan. Whether that's true or not we'll never know, but while Tony Clubb has IMO established himselft a first choice player, Sarginson hasn't.
I mentioned on the other thread he is capable of playing 1-7 but as it stands we have specialist players who are better.

| He's a good player but he is not a centre unfortunately.

Fantastic player who attracted NRL interest. Can play any position from 1-7.

| He has plenty to iron out of his game unfortunately, in both attack and defence IMO. Having said that for a 21 year old he's actually a cracking prospect. No harm at all in persevering with him as a squad player IMO

| I'm still really happy with the signing. He can cover all positions in the back 5 and even at stand off if we needed him. What is wrong with having a utility player like Sarginson in the squad? He has done his job well this year filling in for Charnley at times earlier in the season like on Good Friday. He had also filled in at full back when he has been needed. Most of his time has been filling in for Thornley while he has been out. What is wrong with that? Would people rather we chucked an 18 year Olson for cover? He is a strong runner with ball in hand and a decent defender and a real competitor.
He is currently first choice back up which in RL generally means he will play most games due to the amount of injuries.
Ratchford has done well for years in a similar situation at Warrington and is now emerging as a key player for them.
I see no harm done that he currently hasn't nailed down a position. He has filled in far better than an 18 year old could have done this season. Physically he has all the attributes and if his best position turns out to be somewhere other than centre, who cares? He has done a superb job learning as he goes.

| Agree with what's been said about him and his ability.
If Bowen doesn't play at Widnes due to the ipitch Sargy will go full back with Thornley or Bateman left centre.
He was excellent playing fb at Hull FC. They couldn't handle his pace when he hit the line.
A very talented player who can fill in playing most positions in the backs. With all that experience coming his way he will be brilliant by the age of 25.
He's also improved at left centre too since that early season defensive debacle at Cas when he Burgess and Farrell could defend our left side for toffee.
For 21 I really rate him.

I don't think he will ever make it as a centre. I think it is interesting to compare him to Burgess in terms of how they look as RL players (obviously not positionally). Burgess who is even younger looks an absolute natural. Sarginson in comparison looks like a very physically fit bloke who gives his all (which will go down well with Wane) but doesn't really know what he is doing.
I also don't think you can persist with him in the playoffs. It's not the place to have an apprentice and if we have to it isn't his fault but I don't think it will work.
He looks far more comfortable at fullback where he is more often on the end of plays rather than someone who has to put someone else on the end of a play.

Really?
I could play in any position from 1-7, doesn't mean I wouldn't be any good. The more I see of Sarginson the more he reminds me of Cameron Phelps, another who could supposedly play anywhere but wasn't particularly good anywhere either.

| Needs a ball of his own. I he isn't going to pass then put him on the wing and move Manfredi to inside centre.
Plan... Put home in a room and get him to pass the ball against each wall for a hour or two. Sorted.
