| Perfect choice for England? I think so. His brutal and win at all costs in knockout rugby is exactly what England need. Im actually excited now and looking forward to watching England again. Perhaps we will see some passion and pride back in the shirt instead of the boring lack lustre performances under Bennett.

| The one thing he is good at is getting a group of guys to fight for one another. Exactly what we need.

| The ideal choice without a doubt. I hear the doubters talk about his style of play but his style is winning. You simply do not get the time to get your teams playing expansive rugby as an international coach. The time with the players is short and it’s about motivating them and getting the game plan as tight as it can be in that short period of time.
I can’t wait for the Ashes. He should have the players fired up and hopefully the crowd will follow suit. We need to make it an uncomfortable atmosphere for the Aussies in every aspect.

100% the best choice for the reasons you’ve given. He’s a proven motivator and he’s saying all the right things and the manner in which he does - you believe him without question.
I can’t wait for the Ashes series!!

| I’m really pleased for him, good to see him back in the game and look forward to seeing the international team fired up like they used to be back in the Mal Reilly era.
Not sure who was on the interview panel but I wonder if he was a controversial selection? I noticed Ian Watson in the RL press today saying how Bennett should have been given the nod to stay on, and of course Sinfield resigned his position on the same day as Wane was unveiled as new coach.

| Glad to see him back in the game. He should have quite a few newer faces to work with too with Hall/McGillvary/Watkins/Graham/Hill/Roby/S.Burgess/O'Loughlin all done/nearly done at international level. Big challenge to replace all that experience but at least he gets to mould the squad. Hope that this marks the end of aussies putting on the shirt

| Only hope that Wane puts a end to the nonsense of selecting home born players from down because they have a parent or grandparent born in our country.
The only exceptions should be players born in other countries as a result of parents working there or people who have been granted political asylum.

Tough to know where you draw the line though. I sense Wane isn’t really behind the idea of non British born players turning out for us but he sidestepped the issue quite nicely in the press conference.
At the end of the day I have total trust in Wane picking only players for England who’ll give it absolutely everything. If he suspects a heritage player won’t do that, even for a second, he won’t pick them.

Agreed. But I don't believe we should ban them as a matter of 'principle'.Because our competitors don't. The Aussies and Kiwis select Tongans and so on. There are international rules laid down, we should abide by them. England select non-English players in RU and cricket. Let's not dress jingoism up as a principle. The objective should be to select English players if possible, but a blanket ban on others is just shooting ourselves in the foot. But I'm sure we all want to see the days of Blake Austin playing on the wing over for good. And I'm sure under Shane Wane they will be.

I’ve been pleasantly surprised with the reaction to his appointment across the whole game. It’s shown that he’s earned peoples respect after the years of ‘some’ people describing him as a thug, a thick ape etc etc.
He’ll still be open to criticism if he picks too many players with connections to Wigan but it’s been a better reaction than I expected.

| I'm chuffed to bits for him.
He knew when it was the right time to leave Wigan and will now come back to RL refreshed and raring to go.
Wouldn't it be great if he could win the Ashes series then bring on the World Cup.
I wish him every success.
Well done Shaun!

Either would be an unbelievable feeling as a supporter. There’s generations of league fans who’ve never seen us beat Australia in a series or to a trophy (me included) and I’d love to think Wane could end that.

I also thought there was a slightly mealy-mouthed response to it on the Super League Show the other night.
Like you, I suspect it was because Sir Kev's departure appears to have been part of the same deal (I mean come on, the guy's off-field role has been a meteoric success so far).
