A purple patch inspired on his home ground by man of the match WIGAN CAPTAIN Sean O’Loughlin produced three tries in an eight-minute spell just before half-time, and the GB Lions added two more after the break to maintain Smith’s 100 per cent record as Great Britain coach. Sat 27th April 2002 St Helens 12 Wigan 21 Edinburgh - Sat 4th May 2002 Celtic 2 Rangers 3 Glasgow (Carlsberg dont do weeks, but if they did.....) //www.internationalrugbyleague.net/:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_36409.jpg

Very interesting seeing Jim Sullivan racked up 744 games as a player, astonishing to think really..

I worked out that ive been to 250-260 Wigan games between 2001-2012 in my time as a fan but im pretty sure there are many on here that have got past the thousand mark... even 2 thousand.. if so, would love to hear peoples tallies icon_smile.gif

Fans Forum 28.08.08 Fan from Haydock "I've got one word for you Mr Chairman - Penalty Count"
I've got one word for you all......Steve Hanley
Some Salford fan said to me and I quote "You are by far and away the most Handsome & Knowledgeable Rugby League Fan in England!" I thanked him and went on my Merry way! RIVERCAVE DWELLER OF THE YEAR 2015! "The club used you last night and didn't tell the truth." Officially one of the 119 Mugs used by the club:icons077e_files/5454-3678dentheman-msnicons.jpg

Started around 76 as a youngster and basically Every Home match since then.
Started going away regularly when I was about 11/12 from about 83 onwards.
Went to Every League - Lancs Cup/JP Trophy/Premiership game in 86/87
Only game I missed was Oldham away in Challenge Cup icon_frustrated.gif (Basically I flew to Switzerland on the Monday and the game was originally scheduled for the Sunday before being rearranged due to weather!).

I get to around 90% of the away games each year now.

Just done a quick Tally & I reckon I'm at around 975 (not including friendlies!!!!)
So looking forward to my 1000th Game this year (Take that Lockers!!! Where's my Testimonial?) icon_wink.gif
Maybe eveyone can buy me a pint at my 1000th game? eusa_think.gif

SAINTS THE ORIGINAL AND PERENNIAL CHEATS For sale full Saints kit (circa 1989). Shirts in pristine condition, but shorts badly soiled. For 27 - 0 you get a trophy For 75 - 0 you get sod all. Wigan had eight in a row Saints have five in a row:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_3076.jpg

I missed that Oldham game as I was on a course down in Bracknell. I remember ringing mrs Rogue for the fulltime score and nearly spitting my pint out in disbelief.

Over the past 60 years I must be close to the 2,000 game mark.

I first went to a game in 1990 and as a nipper probably went to 10-15 games a year up until about 98. Since then I've probably missed no more then a couple of games per season home or away so with cup ties and play offs that must average out at 30-35 games a year.

I'd guess I must have been to around 550-600 games.

I'm closing in rapid on Jim Sullivan!

end of last season I had 565 Programmes from matches involving Wigan and a further 75 for finals, representative matches and Internationals.

Only know this off hand as I moved house and had to get them out of the loft....the other half wanted to bin them but after I explained they were extra loft insulation and saved on heating costs I managed to keep them all....lol

My first game was as a 9 year old in September 1964. Wigan beat Castleford 33-13 at Central Park. Scoring for Wigan were Ashton, Lake, Boston, Cliff Hill & Geoff Lyon. I was hooked. Reckon i must be at around 1200 games by now.

First game I can remember is 4th Jan 1975 V Castleford,(web
site check) sat on the wall on popular side and we battered them.
So as a rule of thumb between 20 to 25 games per season approx 850

1980/1 was unforgettable, saw some sites to say the least, Huyton away in particular
The battle of Fartown was another, the good old days?

How many of these games have you stayed for the full 80 though? I'm guessing most of you would be struggling to hit 3 figures. I'm joking, I'm joking.

Some great efforts there. Figure out how much money you've spent following Wigan.

I honestly have no idea. First game was in the 88/89 season (season 26 coming up) went everywhere in the 90s, miss a max of 5 games a year with work and that. I'm easy over the 500 mark.

First game 01/08/99 against Gateshead at Tynecastle

Second game Murrayfield 2002

Third game Old Trafford 2003

First home game JJB 2004 and regular ever since .

Although since being introduced to the Captain (13) a combination of old age and drink has made some of the past very HAZZZZY .

Next game Salford City Red's this Friday , see you all there CAN'T WAIT . icon_thumb.gif

Don't think I could put a number on it, perhaps I am just too lazy to try and work it out though.

My dad is to blame really, he started taking me to games when I was about 7 years of age which would of been around 1986 so I consider myself very lucky to have witnessed the great Wigan teams of the late 80's and 90's. Aside from the many great players I have seen play the main memory for me is that of Central Park and my dad lifting me over the gates and getting me in for free, they never used to mind in those days.

If I did not attend games back then it was because I was taken to St.Marys church on a Sunday and as the church backed on to Central Park it was strange to hear the game going on during mass, you could always tell if Wigan were doing well or not - usually they were.

What was also stranger is that one of my heroes Shaun Edwards used to be an alter boy with me when I was about 10 or 11, he must of been about 17 years of age at the time so when I didn't see him in church I saw him playing for Wigan, great memories.

Im hoping to also brain wash my children with Wigan Rugby League If im lucky enough to have any but doubt they would get in for free these days.

First game, the 1970 Cas cup final 'cos me mates were going. Amazing how living less than 10 miles away from towns like Wigan, Leigh etc and you knew nothing about the game. PE teacher though, as an amateur soccer international, said RL is the best spectator sport going. Met my Wiganer wife in '75 and we've been going ever since (as well as playing and coaching). So, about 700 I guess.

First game was salford at home in about 87/88. Been pretty much every home game since and about 75% of away games.

Next game?? Probably saints away and then the playoffs.
