After this news coming out of the fans forum this needs a thread of its own!
Lets all get behind this and try and do what Newcastle couldnt.
George has had his best season in a Wigan shirt IMO and has been immense for us - Surely he could go round again if we look after him next year?

George has been an immense signing for us but I think every player has the right to decide to retire whilst still on top of their game rather than playing on a season too long. Carmont will know his body and whether or not he has got another year of playing SL in him or not.

Honestly, in my opinion the guy has been an outstanding signing. I think that it is a shame he is often labelled as a bargain, because even if we had paid him top whack, he would still have been worth it.
One of the hardest grafting centres i have seen at Wigan in a long time, defensively sound with a classy passing game. Not to mention his fantastic turn of pace for an over 30.
If he wants to call it a day, then he has my blessing. I wish him all the luck in the world.
Who knows, but i seriously think that we will be ok in the centre berths next year, either by recruiting or promoting.
Best of luck George, go and enjoy life with the Wife and kids.

id like george to stay and so will everyone else but i think losing deacon is a bit bigger news :/ look at the way the team play around deacs when hes on the pitch he keeps the team calm and composed to me he will be the biggest loss we now though have a good chance to recruit on a centre

We shouldn't underestimate what Deacon as brought to this side this last 2 seasons..we'll miss him just as much IMO

Although i think we all know that Paul probably should call it a day now. He could turn into a very effective trainer/coach, so i am looking forward to seeing how he gets on.
Also he is a top bloke into the bargain. |

Would live him to stay and I'd like to think the club will do all they can to try and make that happen but if he doesn't want to the guy will have everyones blessing. He's been terrific and we'll miss him and the guy should get one hell of a send off.
