Just started snowing hope its just a blizzard anything like Xmas and season opener could suffer fingers crossed.

Me and my Dad said yesterday at the Latics game that the pitch is going to be f*cked. It's not in the best condition now and over the next two/three weeks will have the following:

Tuesday 2nd - Latics v Notts County
Friday 5th - Wigan v Crusaders
Tuesday 9th - Wigan v Stoke
Friday 12th - Wigan v Hull KR
Tuesday 16th - Latics v Bolton

Add to that a possible replay with Fulham or indeed a QF tie and it will be lucky to still have grass on it (with us of course getting the blame)

It will all be the rugby's fault you know.

I saw brief highlights om MOTD and the pitch looks in a bad state and we havnt even played on it, i bet they blame our team photo yhat was done over the last couple of days.

Well our players won't spend as much time on the floor as Everton did

They could always switch the Notts County game to Orrell. Or the soccerdome.

We could play it on Little Lane mate and that'll be too big. Only 11k home fans yesterday.

Disgraceful. I can only wonder how many more 'supporters' will defect should they get relegated..!

I can actually see the power shift yet again with Wigan RL hopefully becoming successful over the next couple of seasons, the crowds will flock. If we can average 16K near the bottom of SL, then I'm sure we can average 18-20K if we were top and winning trophies.

Wigan RL are certainly more active in the community, I walked through the Grand Arcade yesterday to see the roadshow which looked popular. Add to that everything else we have done recently I think you could be right.

Wigan Athletic may be a football team for Wigan but I see and hear less about their community projects than that of the Warriors and that may have an effect on future attendance figures with Wigan RL trying to bring in younger faces to the stands.

The more the merrier

The problem the Latics have is that it's been an artificially boosted 'fanbase' throughout their tenure in the top flight. I have plenty soccer fan mates who use the Wigan games to see their own team but register as Latics fans as they buy their tickets in the Wigan seats. Their fanbase is hardly diehard anyway, save for a couple thousand. The 'glory hunters' never stay around long for mid table mediocrity and I think these two factors are increasingly being seen season on season.

The animosity Whelan has engendered amongst a largely rugby-centric town hasn't done them any favours either! As the saying goes..."turning blue my ar$e!"
