Didnt realise until reading the League Express he was still unattached. What do people recon? for me he could be worth a punt....they type of player we need a $h1thouse enforcer, and a classic old style prop. Would give us some good options if fielden doesnt show improvement etc and could give us the lack of go forward we lack. Plus I would expect you could prob get him for a bargain price of £40-50k etc so if it didnt work out we've not lost a massive amount.

Always liked thakrey hes a prop forward in the old mould of a cowie or skerrett and would do a cracking job IMO.

Presume some fall out with Hull FC.....but its not like weve not signed players with problems in the past is it.....I would guess Thackreys indiscretions are not as bad as some we have signed. Get him on a tight contract on the cheap as a chance to make his comeback and if their are problems get him binned. What we got to lose...on form he's a GB International Prop and if we could get something out of him it would be worth it IMO

He's been bother everywhere he's been. The reason we didn't go fir willie mason is he's trouble and he's twice the player thackery is.

He's not the same Jamie Thackray of a few years back and we shouldn't go anywhere near him. He is a one season wonder if ever there was one and isn't as good a player as the likes of Prescott, O'Carroll or Mossop anymore.

tbh I bet hes only had as many problems in the past (if not less) than a certain hooker and a certain departed number 6 and we've signed both of them recently when there wasnt really a need for players in those positions.

Surely then Thackrey is worth a risk for a position we need, and where he could do a job. Whatevers said about off field antics hes always shown up on the pitch IMO and would at the v least be sturdy. And if he could recapture his GB form he could be the player we so desperately need.

Even NL1 clubs are staying clear. I think he's currently playing amateur RU in Yorkshire.

As one poster mentioned, the guy is the archetypal 'one-season wonder'. Unfortunately, the one good season he had seemed to inflate his ego beyond all recognition.
He might be a so-called aggressive 'impact player', but its not much good him making 15 yards with a bustling drive, swatting defenders off like flies but then dropping the ball like a berk, as so often happens with him.

As others have said, the guy has blotted his copybook too many times. Plus the stories of off-field trouble are legion.

I think it's safe to say that, if Thackeray was not a barrell load of trouble, then he wouldnt' be a free agent by now. The same is true of Willie Mason, who is actually a far better player.
