| I have have just watched a rerun of the game today and noticed that Singleton would have got away with the elbow charge had the game not been televised. The video ref nowanday looks at who should be red carded aswell as trys

| Kallum Watkins has just come in third man with a swinging arm to Matty English’s head . The lad goes down injured but the Sky don’t rerun it from every possible angle and the ref and video ref aren’t at all interested in taking a look at it . Where is the consistency?

| Consistency is a major problem in the game (and all sport TBH)

| I think many saints fans are 50/50 on it?
It could have been a red or yellow, worse have been missed but I have no issue in video refs jumping in to correct errors. Happens in NFL all the time and no one moans about it.
I'm sure if we had the money then we would have cameras at every game whether televised or not

But we don't.
It's galling enough that a televised game is officiated to a different set of rules to a non-televised game. The video ref piping in and telling the on-field ref to send someone off is ridiculous. If the on-field ref hasn't seen it in real time then it's up to the panel to rule on it during the week.

| I'd just love to see a captain's challenge inserted into the UK game.
Can you imagine the egg on the referees' faces, when 7 out of every10 of their decisions are overruled?

Only 7? They're improving then.

| I think the decision on the sending off was influenced by Napa not getting a red against Saints, then receiving a 5 match ban. The thought being that if it's worth 5 matches it should have been a ban. This influenced the video ref in this situation.

The rules are not different they are the same, it's just about the odds of them being applied and enforced correctly.
It's a bit like saying if you get caught speeding by the police you should not be punished because they are not monitoring your speed on every road.
I think it' is ridiculous to say that in a match we know that a dangerous incident has occurred but we will sit on our hands and do nothing because we are a bit of a luddite sport.

| They need a good sit down the refs to work out exactly how these decisions are being implemented. Everything was a red at the start of the season, so they get bagged but then rather than just being sensible and going back to how games have been reffed over the last decade, they then get to the point where nothing is a red, even challenges like the Napa and McIlorum ones, which would be a red this season, last season or ten seasons ago. They then get more stick and a fuss blows up when Singleton gets sent off for a challenge that is nowhere near as bad as those 2 last week but had it not been for the 2 Catalans challenges we all just sit there and go ‘well I can see why it’s given’.
It’s a mess of the games own making and it needs sorting.

Would it be a lot better when they used to put them on report like they used to do and leave 13 against 13.

| I've only seen the sky highlights last night as were up there for the weekend. At the game I was on the 20 metre line, it looked to me that Field made the tackle and that turned Sironen so that Singleton came from behind him and Sironen fell. What I noticed on the highlights was that no Saints player even looked to the referee for the penalty, indeed Lussick? was encouraging Sironen to get up to play the ball.
Let's see what comes out of the disciplinary today, but a sending off looked very harsh. I think the refereeing inconsistency in games this season has been baffling tbh.

The arguement there is that the "offended against" team doesn't get the benefit. That said there is too much inconsistency in how offences are being dealt with. I'm not for a minute suggesting it was a sending off but Roby on Farrell was direct contact to the head with no malice; penalty. Singleton's was direct contact to the head with no malice; red card. Is that too big a leap? Difficult to say but, in context of the match and the spirit it was played in, I'd have said yellow was enough.

Singo was the shoulder which (as I understand it anyway) is the big difference.
Both were penalties which the referee didn't actually give at the time.
