| Quite a few options for the game with up to 4 players coming back in Manfredi Powell Burgess and Flower, personally I’d go with something like this although I doubt it’ll happen
French
Manfredi Hardaker Bibby Marshall
Hastings Smith
Bullock Powell Flower
Isa Farrell
Smithies
Burgess Clark Partington Tommy

Other than swapping out Partington for Bryne/Havard I don’t disagree with that. It’s a good side on paper definitely

| On the night I was pretty livid with how Burgess had performed but looking back again, it was a mixed bag and there were some signs that he could get back to a really high level if we can get his confidence going again. He certainly looks to have found half a yard again going off his try. I’d probably give him his last chance before bringing Manfredi in at Huddersfield if Burgess doesn’t cut out the basic errors.
I’d go-
French
Marshall Hardaker Bibby Burgess
Leuluai Hastings
Bullock Powell Flower
Isa Farrell Partington
Subs
Clark Burgess Greenwood Smithies
I’ve been impressed with Harry Smith but his defence would be a worry against a powerful Hull pack. He missed 9 tackles on Thursday looking at the stats. It didn’t really feel like that at the game but throwing people like Ma’u, Sao, Jones, Griffin etc at him might not end well at the minute whilst he’s adjusting to first team rugby.
Other than that I’d want a big pack and a big bench. I’d go with Partington at 13 to add the aggression from the start. He’s got a good pair of hands on him and I actually think he’d make a better 13 then he does prop at the moment.

20333_1393344959.gif Current thoughts - Mago out or get running up them plantations, get fit or get rid.
Maybe a back up halfback, someone with a bit of experience on a short term deal.
Big tall strong running second rower, like a McMeekin or Sironen type back rower.:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_20333.gif |

| We need some muscle in the pack, but fit muscle that has played before. I don’t want Burgess or Flower in the team until they’ve played a reserve game to gauge their fitness.
1 - French
2 - Manfredi
3 - Hardaker
4 - Bibby
5 - Marshall
6 - Leuluai
7 - Hastings
8 - Bullock
9 - Powell
10 - Byrne
11 - Farrell
12 - Isa
13 - Smithies
14 - Clarke
15 - Partington
16 - Clubb
17 - Greenwood
Game plan - Offload like hell, tire their big forwards out.

The way to tire them is to knock out set after set and follow it with a good kicking game. Low risk rugby in the first half and open it up in the second. Start trying offload after offload will inevitably lead to a few dropped balls and turn over in possession. I agree we need to tire them but not through high risk rugby. If we give a high completion rate and low error count, we’ll be fine.

| Could do with Saints beating them up a bit and yes we'll need to go big.
Could really do with Greenwood having a blinder for the reserves today.

Only players that the expert fans critics, criticise every week and say they rubbish.
See below
Mossop
Sutton
Sarginson
Gelling
Williams
Exceptions Tomkins/Bateman
So don't see what the issue is, club are only getting rid of players the fans don't think are any good?

| Just reading an article on the Hull daily mail site and the Hull pack won’t be as big as the one which turned out at Headingley. They’ve got Satae suspended and Manu Ma’u is out for 3-4 weeks with a knee injury. They’ve also lost Savelio this week, so whilst they’ll still be strong, it doesn’t look like their lack will be quite as daunting as it could’ve been.

Well that evens things up a bit doesn't it. Their first choice forwards are much stronger than ours whilst our back line are much stronger than theirs. They've also hgot to play a tough game against Saints yet (weather permitting).

I know. It’s shocking. I love an offload.
I think against Toronto we did 4 offloads all game, all it does is make for a very boring game.
Low errors = Low Risk Rugby = Boring Rugby
The coach may be in the results business but it’s the entertainment business too.

| In the reserves game Greenwood may as well have had a big sign saying I do not want to play any more. There were at least five forwards who were head and shoulders better than him today.

| What Lam will change to improve the team we don 't know but my selection would be -
French,
Marshall, Hardaker, Hankinson, Burgess. Hastings, Smith. Bullock, Powell, Burgess, Farrell, Wells, Smithies, Bench - Byrne, Clubb, Havard, Leuluai.
We need a big centre strong in defence against the Hull backrowers so I've put Hanks in there. Bibby doesn't cut it defence wise for me.
Smith to start at 7 as his kicking game is excellent.
Tommy kicks straight to the fb or wing giving them 15 mtrs start on each set. We need big props all game so Partington is out as willing as he is. Isa would be in but he may cop a ban for the Springer incident. Wells to replace him. Smithies replaces Lockers.
Match Hull for size, with better backs and a kicking game that will be an asset to us and not them and a win could be very much on the cards.
