| Following last week's loss, injuries and the further injury to Liam Farrell I do think there will be some significant changes to the squad for Hull FC.
Shaun Wane will have limited options as no one appears ready to return this week following his comments in the press conf for the Leeds game.
I think he'll be looking to improve the front row to ensure they win the battle against their Hull counterparts.
Our kicks on the last need attention. Last week we kicked all night to Hall and paid for it big time.
This week we need to drop the bomb on Jason Crookes head at every opportunity. Both he and Shaul aren't the tallest of players and with Burgess, plus hopefully Gelling, being our left side attack and both being around 6'5" then that should trouble the Hull defence.
He could also look at the support that is there (or nor there) when a break is made down the middle. Smith and Green don't seem to provide this whereas Williams and Hampshire are always on the shoulder and both have blistering pace.
My oddball selection would be -
Bowen,
Manfredi, Goulding, Gelling, Burgess,
Williams, Smith,
Taylor, McIlorum, Clubb,
Hughes, Bateman,
Green.
Bench - Crosby, Dudson, C Farrell, Powell.
IMO Clubb is better in the front row and he was a starting prop for London.
Green to 13 as we need a ball player as well as a talker to provide the link with the half backs.
Thoughts?

Agree. We've plenty of quality in the halves with Smith, Powell, Hampshire and Williams so we should use it! We simply cannot play with a '3rd prop' style of LF as we've seen time and again. We've tried Clubb, Flower, Farrell, Hanson and many others in the last few seasons and none has really worked for us. We need a ball player or an extra half if you will. Lockers is the only one who can combine both roles effectively. Let's try going the whole hog and putting Green there. Worth a shot!

| Get Williams and Powell some more gametime and stick Micky Mac in the back row.
I'd probably go-
Bowen
Manfredi Goulding Gelling Burgess
Green Smith
Taylor Williams Crosby
Clubb Bateman McIlorum
Dudson Pettybourne Hughes Powell

| Greens struggling defensively at stand off, I really don't think he could cope defending in the middle.

It's a non starter for me due to that.
Micky Mac at 13 will add mobility in that back three and open up playing minutes for Williams and Powell. He'd be my option to drop in to the backrow.

Give Smith & Sarginson a rest
Try the under 19s half backs in the first team
Let Blake Green do the O'Loughlin role of linking the play in attack, in defence we can hide him wider out if necessary.
Give Hughes the second row spot.
Only one player out of position.
Why not give this team a go against Hull.

| It's all well and good saying these things. But being honest I think we all know the chances of this experimentation happening are very low, as it's never really happened in the past.
More than likely the team will be similar to last week but maybe (hopefully) with Gelling and Sarginson swapping roles, in addition to someone replacing Farrell due to his injury.

I agree with Micky Mac at 13 but I'd play Williams at 9 and Powell and Hampshire in the halves. I'd put Green or Smith on the bench

| Clubb should only play at prop.
Mac or Green could play at 13, though I much prefer Mac at 9, and think the defensive work would be too much for Green.
I had thought that Bateman had played there a fair bit (and yet he doesn't look the part so far). Hughes should play second row, as could Gelling.
So...
Bowen - Manfredi - Goulding - Sarginson - Burgess - Green - Smith
Taylor - Mac - Clubb - Hughes - Gelling - Bateman
Dudson - Williams - James - Farrell
(If Eddie is fit, I'd play him at 12, and drop Gelling to the bench).

Not sure how you can say Flower at LF didn't work, did you forget how we got the grand final last year? Flower was our man of the match at loose against Hudds in the play offs IMO. Green defending at loose would be a disaster, he struggles at stand off
