When any story like this comes out you have to think

How stupid is someone to answer obviously loaded questions to someone that you presume is a stranger?

Have they set it up themselves. Low level player and maybe thinks they can make a killing out of the story

Why would any of their team mates join in?

I hope he gets a life ban from RL and sacked from his full time job. He is not a good example to have as a teacher brings the schools name into disrepute so they can sack him, then maybe the education bodies can ban him form teaching again. I'm not sure about the wages they quote from his club. If they are accurate and he is in full time teaching as well he is not short of money. What a gobsh*te I have no sympathy whatsoever.

From that it would appear he's £400 down due to his part in this "betting scandal". It ain't exactly The Sting.

Hes a PE teacher on 24k plus (24k is starting wage so I imagine he may be into 30k by now) and a part time rugby player so probably another 10-15k on top of that a year and he throws it away like that! Does he not realise how many people would love to be in his position?!

He plays for Doncaster who have a £500 win bonus and £150 for losing, he'd struggle to make 15k!

Seven years ago the RFL should have suspended Long and Gleeson with immediate effect for the same offence.

Exactly my thoughts, it appeared to me the reporter was taking photo's of Leaf and Leaf blatently knew it was happening!



I don't think he was aiming to make a 'killing' out of the story, I don't think it was his actual intention for all this to come out. As for team-mates, Leaf did say something like "I know of other RL players doing the same....you can tell in a game who's bet on the match and who's not....even referees are in on it."

For me the referee bit is the most worrying.



Lifetime ban from RL - an almost certainty, he'll be playing in the NCL (National Conference League) soon enough, but sacked from his teaching job? I'm not sure that that could come to fruitition, although he may well face disciplinary action from his employer.
