As it is still some time before the season kicks off I thought i could still get away with some sillly season.
having had xmas dinner was sat round with the in laws and the discussion turned to our lad starting to play rugby. Having re iterated to everyone present that it would only be league he was playing and as a Wigan fan I can dream that perhaps one day he will pull on the famous cherry and red. A question was then asked if he did not make it at wigan and signed for another club what would I think. I had to reply taht depending on what club i might have to disown him as I could never shout for Saints or wolves or even leeds. I was interested what would everyone else do?

I have a mate who had this problem. He now plays for Wire but he comes from a Wigan supporting family (on one side the other side supports Wire anyway) and they now all go to watch him at Wire (or somewhere else on his Dual-reg) and I think thats worked out well. They're proud of him as are all his mates I also support him when he plays providing it isnt against us of course haha.

Jon Woods [of Leigh 'fame'] was Forbidden by his father from signing for Wigan. And I know of a few fathers like that from lads I grew up [In Leigh] with who would disown their kids should they sign for Wigan.

Believe it or not I had this problem earlier this year. Me and son both season tickets holders at Wigan - Saints and Wigan wanted him on scholarship. He plays his club rugby in St Helens and a few of his team mates play at Saints. We let him make his own choice.

I went to school with a lad who had a similar dilemma. There were a few clubs sniffing around him offering contracts but he'd decided that he would only ever play for Wigan. Unfortunately Wigan never came knocking and he never got picked up. Silly boy
