The extent of his coaching is ''BASH EM, JUST F*CKING BASH EM. HE'S LOW ON CONFIDENCE, BASH HIM''
He's a limited coach that won't last long term.[/quote:8f22o6ue]
....
That would make Wigan strong favourites then. With Ratchford at FB and Patton with Cronk in the halves, I think we'll do very well without Sam.[/quote:8f22o6ue]: |

agree, if that was the standard i would easily pay £35 a year for it

| From watching the highlights think Matty Russell was a little hard done to being blamed for the first try. Finch should have collected the ball and gone down on it rather than trying to take it whilst on his feet.
Promising signs though, and I have to say Goulding looked very keen and in good condition and Russell looks a real handful ball in hand with such explosive pace.

| Nice flick pass from Goulding for Russell's try.

| Cracking try from Russell, he really has pace to burn. He made a few errors in the first half but really showed his quality with that try. Great centre play and flick from Goulding too to set it up.

| Things I took from the game-
1- Russell is one hell of a threat with the ball. He obviously made a couple of early errors but that could be put down to nerves and to come back like he did showed real character and talent. Exciting prospect.
2- Gelling looked a handful with good footwork, balance and pace. He did seem to be blowing a little though so plenty of fitness work needed (if he turns in for training that is...ha ha)
3- Goulding did what Goulding does and was very solid whilst showing some skillful touches in attack. He'll go well but won't get much praise for it in certain quaters.
4- When Finch works off the rust and gets Hock running on to those short balls it'll be devastating.
5- I thought Lauaki played very well with some strong carries and good defence and controlled his aggression in the right ways.
6- We need some of that HKRTV! ( WWRLTV that is not the HKR version)

3076_1671446335.jpg SAINTS THE ORIGINAL AND PERENNIAL CHEATS
For sale full Saints kit (circa 1989). Shirts in pristine condition, but shorts badly soiled.
For 27 - 0 you get a trophy
For 75 - 0 you get sod all.
Wigan had eight in a row
Saints have five in a row:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_3076.jpg |

| Finch was mom by some way.
Russell will make a top class player.
We looked better with Mickey Mac.
Gelling looked useful.
Goulding was solid, but I'm still not convinced he is the answer at centre, but should be given his chance to claim that spot.
Sam Powell did everything that could be expected of a player making his first team debut.
Lauaki was quite impressive.

| It's Lauaki who I was most surprised by tbh because i've not heard much mention of him from people at the game. He looked fitter then i've seen him at Hull and the most impressive and important thing was he kept his temper in check even when taking some treatment from the HKR defence.
He could be a real suprise package this season.

39110_1363272058.jpg Dropkick Murphy..we actually saw and heard a mass of bouncing and scarf and flag waving to Dale Cavese that drowned out anything we could muster.. It stopped us singing our own celebratory songs, it died out seconds later when we accepted we couldn't be heard over the Wigan lot
Celebrations muted from us, job done from them. Most fans who slag them off are jealous their own club's support is nowhere near that good
-
sally cinnamon..Why not discuss Wigan? It's a rugby league message board. Wigan are the most famous brand in rugby league
-
Tre Cool..Saints fans are hopeless unless it's a cup final or grand final. Wigan fans are so much more loyal and passionate
-
the flying biscuit..Wires havent been massively succesful over the years, but I've spoke to Brian Bevan And he spoke to me and i wouldnt swap that for Wigans History, ever
-
Ande..on the TV i could only hear the Wigan fans with about 10 to go
-
Saint94..Every team is in your feckin shadow, we all know

| Watching the game it looked like both sides were pretty rusty when it comes to attack, which is only to be expected.
At centre I can see why Wane praised Goulding. In attack there weren't many opportunities but the offload for Russell's try was excellent centre play. Defensively he was spot on, timing his runs out the line and making his tackles stick.
Gelling showed great promise with ball in hand although he looks like he'll need longer to get up to full speed. Defensively he was a little unsure at times but first impressions are that he has plenty to offer for the future.
Lauaki was running the ball in strong and looked very effective which is good news. I wasn't sure whether he'd be good enough at prop but if he keep that determination he should do well.
I was also impressed with Flower who ran well, especially his rampaging run from the restart. He's obviously got both pace and strength which is exactly what Wane seems to be after.
