| Not long now before arguably Wigans biggest game for many a year.
What type of game do we expect ?
Bennetts teams are well known to be very patient with the ball and look to force errors off the back of very steady rugby.
IMO it has the makings of a very tense, close contest with the odd mistake being the only opportunity to score
STG have the added motivation to "Do it for Wayne"
Forecast for Sunday night is dry, but will probably be a heavy pitch after rain in the afternoon
rlhttp://news.bbc.co.uk/weather/forecast/3071?&search
Realistically it is very hard to call
What you all think ?

[quote="Pemps":1dso5atj]I can't confirm Bennett's exact words but I believe they were along the lines of "Strewth Ian, I wouldn't touch him with yours. He's a flammin' Gala". [/quote:1dso5atj]

That is true and i wish Mr B all the best. However Wigan can counter that with "Do it because Mr Wane has told us to"
To close to call and the only prediction i will make is that it is a good job i have booked Monday off.

| I think I'm going to make myself ill at this rate!!
This is the biggest game we have had in years and my whole body is telling me so. One minute I'm giddily excited the next I'm terrified.
Whatever happens on sunday so long as we play the way we can then no one can ask for more.
Now can I go to bed please and wake up at 6pm on sunday??

The future's bright, The future's Tomkins!!
Keep Wigan "Wigan"
Especially playing at Wigan which is a real home of Rugby League.”QUOTE : Cameron Smith 27/10/09.: |

| if our defence is as sound as it has been we will be in a great possition to build on that, we can score trys from deep from anywhere on the park.
SGI will provide a huge test but im sure we will get the reet result.

It's going to be VERY difficult I think.
However, everyone of us on Sunday Afternoon should think back and remind themselves of the dark days of 2006 and how such a game like Sunday seemed 'pie in the sky' (pardon the pun), smile and then go out there and enjoy ourselves regardless of the result...!!

| I had the privilege of watching Wigan train on Wednesday and if they play with the precision and intensity as they did in training then they will do very well indeed !

39110_1363272058.jpg Dropkick Murphy..we actually saw and heard a mass of bouncing and scarf and flag waving to Dale Cavese that drowned out anything we could muster.. It stopped us singing our own celebratory songs, it died out seconds later when we accepted we couldn't be heard over the Wigan lot
Celebrations muted from us, job done from them. Most fans who slag them off are jealous their own club's support is nowhere near that good
-
sally cinnamon..Why not discuss Wigan? It's a rugby league message board. Wigan are the most famous brand in rugby league
-
Tre Cool..Saints fans are hopeless unless it's a cup final or grand final. Wigan fans are so much more loyal and passionate
-
the flying biscuit..Wires havent been massively succesful over the years, but I've spoke to Brian Bevan And he spoke to me and i wouldnt swap that for Wigans History, ever
-
Ande..on the TV i could only hear the Wigan fans with about 10 to go
-
Saint94..Every team is in your feckin shadow, we all know

| If the conditions are bad then I can see them squeezing the life out of us, they constantly put good kicks in backed up by great defence and then make no mistakes in attack. If conditions are good then I would love us to have a go at them, lets see if they can handle our running outwide, test their defence. We need to come out like we did in the GF and get an early lead. I hope we choose to kick off to them so we can smash them from the start! I expect the physicality of the game to be double what we see in super league and the PTB will be rapid, even so I would expect the scoreline to stay pretty low and I think the whole game will be about forwards and defence, one or two plays from a cheeky half back could change the game.
I expect us to be in the game going into the last 10 mins, we have never been well beaten under Maguire and I don't expect this to be any different.

| It's just a joy approaching the weekend feeling giddy with excitement at the prospect of playing the best team in the world in one of the game's biggest finals, instead of approaching it terrified because we might lose another two valuable points to fellow cellar-dwellers Wakefield.
I still haven't got over that terrible half-season under Millward.

| Two tough defensive teams makes me think that this will be a low-scoring game. I'd be surprised if the total points scored goes past 25-26, especially if it rains as has been forecast

| IMO SGI will have to be a great side to beat us if we perform like we did in the Grand Final 2010.
The guys know how much this means to us all, the club, the town and British RL, them convicts can say what they like about how seriously they take the game... (they talk about us being whinning POMS... I haven't heard anything but whinning from them!!)
I really hope that Lockers has the game of his life and just shows what most of us know already.. He may not have the plaudits of his brother-in-law but to Wigan 2011 but IMO he's just as important. I hope we play to our strengths and can keep their centres quiet.
20-12 to Wigan...
Bring on Sunday.... Lets hope its a cracker...
I would love us to beat them, just to experience the feeling of being the best in the world.

Why is it nonsense or crazy ?
A team pitting it's wits against a team from the so called best rugby league
playing nation containing the best coach and players in the business or are you wire lot claiming this tag after one win against stains
I'd call it a challenge of the highest order just ask many Wigan fans who went to the previous 3 world club victories just how big these games are.
Once you've been in one you'll understand !

Obviously your team have never played in one so you don't know and to some people that is the case. But to be called the best Rugby League team in the world is a massive achievement and in club rugby how is their a bigger one?.. I don't know of another planet that plays rugby
The NRL can have the title of the best league in the RL world... but it isn't always the case that than they have the best team! On Sunday we have the chance to be that team... you may not be too excited... I cannot wait.....
