| Been announced this morning that we (Bulls) have signed Shaun Ainscough. I think he will be a very good signing, but iam a bit dissapointed that we have only give him a 1 year deal.

Good Luck Shaun and all the best.. Its a good chance for him to prove himself at the top level.
Noble IMO ruined the lad by bringing his faults to the highlight of the media and causing huge debates on fans forums and affecting his confidence. IMO Shaun has no problems in attack it was/is just his ability defending the high ball and also his ground defence but IMO given the right guidance he could have improved in these areas but I think his confidence was hugely affected by Noble and therefore making it more of an issue than what it was/is.

| I am pleased by this news. I think it is fair to say that he lost his way a little under Noble and has never really recovered from it. He needs to work on some areas of his game but he's young enough and has some raw talent.
He'll get the chance at Bradford that he was unlikely to get at Wigan. We're taking a punt on him, but I reckon he might just reward the faith shown in him by Potter.

| Ainscough was a breath of fresh air when he arrived on the scene, a winger not afraid to take people on down the wing instead of playing it safe and coming inside. But I agree about Noble ruining him firstly by destoying his confidence by dropping him and bringing to light the problems in his defence (to be honest I didn't notice them) with his attack being superb.
It's a shame things haven't worked out

| There are better players ahead of him for wing spots at Wigan. As simple as that for me.
That Nobel spotted flaws in his game before some supporters shows why he is a coach and they are fans!

| How people can still blame Noble for Ainscough being p*ss poor is beyond me. He's had his chances this season - and duly not took them.
Good riddance I say.

People keep saying this but who are they? We have had several young players get a run out recently but none has made the impact Ainscough did in a team that wasn't as well coached as it is now.
I am sure Rouges and others can mention several players who have starred in the academy but as I said none of the players given a début this season have had the impact Ainscough did in 2009.
I agree with a couple of previous posts in that his faults such as they are were exaggerated and unfortunately seized on by Nobles defenders to justify Noble's actions. I don't think anyone noticed these faults until it became an excuse to drop him.

Rubbish. He got one game in the poorest team we put out all season.

He had his chance to shine out on loan and in training at Wigan but clearly didn't. You have to trust the judgement of people who work with him everyday.

How do you think Pryce would have looked playing for Cas and Widnes? They are two poor sides and if he was so bad no one would have have wanted to sign him anyway. He was wanted by Cas, Widnes and now the Bulls.
Pryce got his chance because he was too old for dual reg and IMO cost too much in wages to be a viable player to send out on loan. As such IMO Ainscough has been a victim of circumstance this season as much as he was last under Noble's policy of playing senior players regardless of form. Ainscough has scored 27 tries in 28 games with us, Cas and Widnes and that is why he been able to get another SL club and under Potter I think he will prove a lot of people wrong.

Shaun is not a bad player, just not to the standard Wigan are thankfully for these days.
Your points, some of which have a degree of a point hanging around them, are mainly based on your point of view. Unless you have previously unexplained inside information, they are nothing more...as are mine!

Bingo! He was the top try scorer in the league for ages despite missing quite a few games, then he got dropped for getting out-jumped by Matt King. After that it was like the emperors new clothes on here, if you can't see his glaring defensive incapabilities you must be a fool, no wonder his confidence took a knock. It summed it up for me when he got a game this season and 'solid' Phil Bailey let someone past him, Ainscough sprints a good 50 metres to make a cover tackle but the attacker gets the offload away and they score, about five people around me in the south stand then started shouting about how we need to drop him! If Noble had stuck with him in '09 I'm fairly confident he would have the 2 shirt in '11 instead of signing for Bradford. We'll see how this pans out but I can't help but feel we've let go of a great talent.
