Anybody else received the letter and bumper sticker?

It looks as though that the club are aiming for this one to sell out and are heavily marketing the game with offers and using a special logo.

The way we are playing at the moment, classing the Leeds game as the 'big one' is pointless and quite random, as the standards between both teams are completely different and there aren't currently any comparisons or rivalries between the two clubs as they are far superior to us on the pitch.

All in all, it just goes to show how much our poor performances effect everything within the club from supporters to marketing. Not only is Ian Lenegan under pressure from supporters, he will also be under pressure from Mick Hogan to resolve the on field issues so that marketing can actually work.

The 'big one' v Leeds is just a game that we're not expected to win but if we do, we might get two points closer to 7th or 8th. Whoop-eee.

How is that attractive?

Got my letter and sticker yesterday.

Can't say I'm overly impressed TBH. Surely they should have tried to do something like this for the Stains game? There would have been a much better chance of a complete sell out v Stains than v Leeds.

Fair play to the club for trying to boost the attendance and generate some interest, but the question that springs to mind is what happens if it doesn't sell out? The club are obviously making a big deal of the fact they want to set a new Super League crowd record. If this doesn't come off then the club ends up with egg on its face (or they'll just make the attendance figures up and blag it).

Also, as a season ticket holder, I'm not overly impressed with the chance to win one of 2,500 Big One polo shirts. Surely it would have been a better idea to offer a discount voucher for Warriors World to compensate for the loss of the extra money we have already paid for this match?

The thing is, if we were performing on the pitch then we would have almost certainly sold out the Saints game and with this marketing attempt, we would have probably had a very good chance of selling this Leeds game too. This has clearly been an idea that has been planned before the season started and would have worked had our on the pitch performances gone to plan, that's why Mick Hogan is probably as fustrated as us. Like supporters, his effort is not been reflected by performances by the coach and players and the off the field results will match those poor ones that have occured on the pitch.

Ian Lenegan has to work out and resolve the problem as our current situation doesn't seem to be something that 'time will heal'.

I think the club was hoping for a sell out or very near sell out anyway for the saints game all a promotion like this would have done is loose the club money. Now Leeds is usually a reasonable turn out but no where near as good as a saints game so it makes sence to push a fixture like this to bring more through the gate.

Leeds have lost 3 on the bounce haven't they? It could be a scrap between us for 8th! But probably not.

I'm not overly upset about the discount that us season ticket holders aren't getting but if where I sit is full of once a season types as it was against stains where I'm told to sit down everytime I stand up I won't be happy.

And as for the full house - no chance! Have Leeds ever brought the 5 and a bit thousand fans needed to fill the North stand?

Marketing campaigns have to be planned weeks if not months in advance, this "big one" campaign would have gone to print weeks ago, you cannot anticipate the on field performances within your marketing. Ans you cannot just cancel the campaign after using a slice of your annual budget.

OFF field the club are very much doing what they should be, so stop moaning icon_smile.gif

I got the letter and a phone call from wigan. Good proactive marketing from the club but, as i explained to the lady on the phone, it's difficult to get a friend interested at the moment due to the poor entertainment on show.

At least the office staff are performing icon_smile.gif

Was pleased with the press release - and I'm glad we're aiming for sell outs. The office staff (i.e. Mick Hogan and his team) cannot control what happens on the field, but at least if they push the marketing side then they can at least say they've done their bit.

Time for the on field staff to step up and match the efforts of others . . .

I spoke with Mick yesterday as we are trying to reclaim the Riversiders kit from France. He was telling me about some of the phone calls he has received yesterday morning.

Some were complaining about the Leeds game, and teh club reducing tickets down to £10.

But my favourite was a woman who rang up to ask Mick why the beer was so expensive in Perpignan. I knew our club was powerful but didnt realise we controlled the beer price icon_biggrin.gif

Oh Dear, that bloke needs the patience of a saint.

If there was no marketing people would moan, it's about time we tried to improve our crowds properly.

Got sent two through the post yesterday.
It is a good effort by the club but at the moment even the celtic game is a big one, and i don't think i've been less enthusiastic about any game ,no offense meant to celtic .

The magic weekend is still a painful and expensive memory from last year; i think this years magic will have a far greater effect on the future attendance than any game promotion from the club .
Any hooo the sticker will probably end up in the back of my works vehicle and ill no doubt be sat silently through the celtic game wondering if i should get anther pint and listening to the happy clappers .
