| Quote: Phuzzy "True Stu, but the counter argument is that a lot more of their players didn't have one eye on Wembley and also didn't have anything to lose. It was interesting that we won that game only playing for 15 mins or so and that Warrington never broke us down and could only score through kicks. If we'd been playing a mid table side, say Salford or Huddersfield, and won like yesterday I doubt anyone would have any comments other than "one eye on Wembley".
The narrative was changed because of the opponents and the young kids playing but it's not the first time a group of kids have put in a good performance. It won't have much bearing on the final.
Having said that it will definitely have a feel good factor for Wire but equally it will focus the minds of Wigan in a similar way to Hull KR a few weeks ago or, indeed, the semi final loss last year.
My main concern is more about the potential bans. We have definitely lost our kicker who is in good form and that's a blow. I hope you're right regarding Dupree but at least we have cover there. A bigger worry though is O'Neil. It was a nothing push and in other times it wouldn't warrant so much as a mention. Unfortunately we're no longer in "other times" and we've seen sanctions for this sort of incident before. Not convinced it's worthy of a ban but you just never know.'"
If O’Neill is banned then Musgrove will face suspension as well. Absolutely nothing in either of those tackles.

I think it was an attempt to let Wire get some points on the board by putting us down a man, to try and make a contest of it, but the officials had no choice but to be consistent when the second incident occurred.'"

| Well, we are getting into a pickle whoever is to blame. Was Cooper's tackle even a penalty? TBF the VR called for the card so not Kendall's "fault". The Dufty one was a pen as a swinging arm hit the shoulder and ended up head high - a yellow could have been given or not but the occasion meant it was guaranteed.

| What I'm not clear about, and I'd appreciate other posters' thoughts, is was it Kendall or Liam Moore, the VR, who actually made the decisions to card Cooper (and Dufty)? Does the VR overrule the on-field ref?

VR can advise the on field ref but it’s the on field who makes the final decision. That’s said, if I were a ref and the Vr with the benefit of replays advised me to send someone off I would do it.
JD said in commentary that he heard the Vr advised for the Cooper yellow, not sure about the other.

| Thanks, that what I thought. As has been mentioned, if the BBC commentators had shut up, we might have been able to hear what Kendall was saying! Certainly Kendall didn't seem to want to do anything initially about Cooper. And then, having carded Cooper, it put a different light on the Dufty situation.
I've been away for the last couple of days and still haven't watched the game back yet. Hoping to get to it shortly.
