Quote: MadDogg "Just to follow on from this - looks like Salford have sent out an email to all of their new 'owners' saying they have a £300k hole to fill due to RFL funding cuts and a percentage of promised food and drink income from the stadium not materialising. Any progress re the council buying the stadium seems to have stalled through Conservative intervention.
Salford have had major financial challenges for a while but it feels like its getting to a point where it may be impossible to sustain a full time club without a wealthy backer. Thankfully most clubs in SL have them but it hardly looks a secure future with that level of reliance. The next TV deal in three years time could genuinely be make or break for the sport's full time status.'"
A £300k hole could well see them off, unless something drastic happens.
I'm told that the narrow escape with paying the players wages earlier this year involved something like £175k, which if true means they've got a hole that equates to less than 2 months wages without even taking into account other overheads.
It's not looking great for them, unfortunately.
