Quote: Stu M "No doubt this is the final year of this side. We are ageing and busted and there’s a big rebuild ahead. We’ve got some outstanding youngsters coming through but they won’t be ready in the next 1-2 years.
Last night was played at a high intensity in very muggy conditions. We were clunky in attack and Welsby was very quiet. To see him described as average on here is laughable though based on last night. Our defence was outstanding in the main and Leigh threw a lot at us. We lost Delaney to a HIA early 2nd half and didn’t give Royle a minute (not sure why) so the forwards did it tough 2nd half.
If Sironen, Hopoate and Hurrell can come back and stay fit we may just have 2-3 big games left in us.
As good as Wigan have looked recently they were poor against Hull in the rain. Grand Finals normally are played in the wet and we have the game plan to play in a big tight game when the ball isn’t thrown around.
Wigan are the form team at the moment no question and would probably start favourites against us but we have a lot of big game players. It’s just if we can squeeze some final energy out of them.'"
I wasn't basing Welsby being average based on last night. I've been banging that drum ever since the sky commentators decided he was the new Jake Trueman (overhyped) I think it equally as laughable that he is lauded as some kind of Billy Slater. I ask again, what exactly is it that makes him some kind of superstar? What does he do that a regular, run of the mill full back doesn't? Does he make breaks and score spectacular try's like Field and French can? Does he has the skill of a Tomkins when he was that age? Or does he just catch the ball and tackle a lot like pretty much every other full back does? Why did he go missing in the world cup? An x-factor player rises to the challenge like Radley did not go hiding.
