[quote="Pemps":1dso5atj]I can't confirm Bennett's exact words but I believe they were along the lines of "Strewth Ian, I wouldn't touch him with yours. He's a flammin' Gala". [/quote:1dso5atj]

| I think first and foremost. Matty Peet is a real class act and an extremely good representative of our great club.
The humility he shows whilst being very magnanimous in all the defeats we have had this year are very refreshing.
I’ll be very honest and say that as a partisan fan of Wigan, during the game I can’t get utterly infuriated with ref’s call or lack of them in key games. It’s my job to feel hard done to in defeat ha.
But I’ll admit after watching or reading his post match comments, it generally makes me see things in a less biased light. which takes some doing sometimes as it bloody stings when we lose.
I understand the rational for keeping French out there in order to jab him at HT. We did lose and attacking option down the right but As we never conceded anything down that wing the gamble to half time paid off.
Should we have had a back on the bench? Possibly but history showed that Leeds battered us in the forwards in the previous game, so perhaps it was the right thing to do without the benefit of hindsight.
Powell in was probably a poor call though. A fully fit and match Hardened Powell might not offer the dynamism the O’Neil has done this this season (he’s been outstanding in my opinion, what a talent), however Powells defence normally is fantastic.
Last night however he was well off the pace and id Put him to blame for the O’Connor try plus a few more bad mistakes.
All in all though. We had enough firepower and players to do a number on Leeds in the first half. It was poor execution on the edges that was our demise.
Two big calls did not help us either. The offside against Marshall after he walloped Hardaker under the sticks was a shocker. And the no try was comical as you could see the downward pressure when his fingers bent back.
Anyway back on topic.
We are in great hands for the forseable with ALL the coaching team.
Regardless of last night. Regardless if French stays or goes, next year will be a good one too imo. Fingers crossed

| Quote: The Whiffy Kipper "I wonder what Sir Peet would covet more, Actual trophies from finals or some naff award that really doesn't mean anything at the end of the season, I mean it's not like he get's free meals from the Brewer's Fayre because of it is it'"
Similarly I can't see Kristian Woolf's reputation down under taking too much of a hit because he didn't win SL coach of the year. He'll have 4/5 trophies on his CV and that's all that matters.

| Quote: Stu M "Just to add by the way that I am not necessarily saying that Peet doesn't deserve it this season. He's done a magnificent job and more annoyingly seems a bloody decent bloke.
My point was that I can't believe Woolf hasn't won it once in three years given what he was won and how good of a team he has made us especially given the departures post Holbrook.'"
totally agree

I don't think SL silverware counts for much in the eyes of NRL clubs.

I get the feeling that the Challenge Cup is held in higher esteem than the SL trophy is.

| Look out for Matty on a podcast coming soon. I’ll put the link in here when it lands. A mate of mine does it and it’s called “Gold Dust”. You should be able to find it as you would normally find others.
He’s had lots of good guests on before including Wane, Holbrook, Lomax, Roby, Graham, Mal Meninga etc plus lots of development football coaches.
It’s basically a high performance type of podcast. I put him in contact with Peet and he’s spent the day with him, his staff and all the players today. Says he’s a tremendous fella. Hopefully it will be a good listen when it’s done
