Just mentioned in the Cooper thread that good coaches seem to make good signings and poor coaches make poor ones. I’m convinced if Saints and Woolf had signed Peter Mautautia, Joe Bullock, George Williams etc, they’d all be flying and had Powell and Wire got somebody like Hurrell, he’d still be the overweight liability he was at Leeds. Teams get so hung up on fixing problems by signing player after player but the man in charge will always be the most important. It’s the same with Man Utd in football. All I hear is their fans screaming for new players but if the new manager is worth his salt, there’s plenty of talent he can turn around and get playing better already at the club.
