Quote: Cruncher "Having watched the game again today, there is far too much significance being given to this 'Hudds had their pockets pinched' idea.

They were a bit steadier than we were, but they didn't do anything like enough to justify such a claim.

The move that killed them was attempted at least a couple of times earlier in the match, and yet they still got caught out by it. None of the presenters mentioned that to my knowledge, which makes me think they were commentating on what they wanted to be happening rather than what actually was.'"

Agree with both posts. I was quite down on our performance and felt the game was a little dour for the most part on the long journey back on the coach yesterday. Watching it again without the uncertainty and stress of sitting in the stands, I saw a lot to admire from both teams. In the heat of the moment, it’s those daft knock-ons that catch the eye, but you don’t register the sheer graft in defence and all the pivotal plays that could have swung either way. I thought Huddersfield came with a superb game plan designed to shut us down, but watching it again, you could see they were creaking during the last quarter of the game as we kept pushing at their edges. Sometimes it can be hard to appreciate the performance of the team when you’re there and the game is so tight.

And anyone who thinks Harry Smith had an off-day seriously needs to watch his performance again.

Definitely. Shouldn't be a penalty in my opinion as it's borderline cheating and we have enough of that creeping into the game.

I've not watched the game back, but you regularly see defenders just throw their arms in the air or take a dive rather than even attempt to defend the play and it's, as you say, becoming like borderline cheating.

It's deffo a penalty
Singleton makes no attempt to go on the inside shoulder of the defender, and the defender (Levi) is no more than a yard away from the defender outside him when contacts made so there's no gap before the Contact.
Penalty all day

Quote: Phuzzy "I know what you're saying Jukesy and not disagreeing exactly but the Singleton one was a little more than a swan dive to be fair. He literally jumps to impact with Singleton before he ever gets to the swan dive. He could have easily avoided the collision in which case Singleton would have gone through the line and that would have been no penalty, a fact Jiffy picks up in commentary.

Penalty because of the contact but the contact was initiated by the Huddersfield player so a highly 'milked' one at the very least'"

We'll have to agree to disagree
When Singleton goes through he makes no attempt to get inside of Levi (And there is a big gap on Levi's inside to Chris Hill).
Levi could hardly go any further to his right as he was already only a yard away from his outside defender (He has to hold is defensive line until Singleton isn't an option).
It's Singleton's responsibility to avoid that contact, Levi doesn't go out of his way to take Singleton or choose to take him.

You say "He literally jumps to impact with Singleton before he ever gets to the swan dive He could have easily avoided the collision in which case Singleton would have gone through the line and that would have been no penalty, a fact Jiffy picks up in commentary" - But he couldn't avoid the contact as he has to Skip to the right as the play unfolds to pick up the next runner. Singleton's responsibility there once he isn't an option is to get on the inside of Levi and not Hinder his attempt to get across. Singleton is on Levi's outside shoulder and blocks him

Comparisons to the Bibby one are way off
Whoever the Dummy runner is for Hudds comes on the inside of Bibby and Bibby rather than skip on (Which he could have he chose to as there was no one physically there to stop him) decides to initiate contact with the Hudds player on Bibby's inside shoulder.

Never disputed the Bibby one. We'll have to (partly) agree to disagree on the other. It's definitely a penalty as I said in the post but it was about as milked as it gets.
