Quote: NickyKiss "I was on about him Saturday evening and I’ve always said Terry Newton was probably my favourite Wigan player in my time watching the club but I think I put Faz on a par now. He’s just sensational and the fact he seems such a great lad make it all the better. I’ve always been a bit stumped why his outrageous consistently brilliant performances and his machine like fitness levels don’t seem to get him the plaudits somebody like James Roby (rightfully) gets and has got throughout his career. Maybe that’s coming now and so it should. There have been second rowers at Wigan over the years that may have done the odd thing better but as an all round package, he’s the best I’ve seen.'"
I think it just about is now - although to be fair I think even some Wigan fans have been in danger of underrating slightly him until fairly recently.
Go back a couple of years and you'll see a few attempts, either on here or in the local press to try and put together Wigan's best team of the SL era/last 20 years, that sort of thing. Admittedly we've had some very, very good players in that time, but I seem to remember Farrell getting left out of teams in favour of others like Hoffman, Bateman & Hock.
Obviously there's no shame in getting pipped by such class players, but I suspect that there are plenty of Wigan fans that would rate him as the best of the lot now who may not have done even a couple of years ago.
