There used to be an idea that coaches who were screwing up royally only needed to get the push, and the new guy, whoever he happened to be, would produce a dramatic victory in his first match simply because the team were relieved the old administration was gone. I'm pretty sure Brian Noble got an epic win over Huddersfield in his first game with a Wigan team that previously had lost fixture after fixture.
But that myth was exploded today. Sad, because I have no fondness for Castleford and I quite like JJB, but it looks as though the issues at Leeds go way deeper. It may well be that time may also be up for Gary Hetherington, who is as much an employee at Headingley as Richard Agar was.
One thing is certain, we can't keep declining as a domestic game. At present, we are uninspiring across the board. A really crap Leeds would only add to that.
