Quote: CM Punk "Not all clubs can be sponsored by discount shops and pawn brokers, some of us have to settle for international businesses.'"
Assuming this sniping is about St Helens, Cash Converters started in Australia, so this by definition makes them an international company. Whilst Home Bargains isn’t international (started in Liverpool in the 70’s), it does employ over 22,000 people as opposed to Wigans new main sponsor employing 24 according to their website.
But as demonstrated above, we can sugarcoat any of the sponsors but it’s a shame all round that nobody in SuperLeague is sponsored by Mercedes-Benz, Tag Heuer, Sony or some such. We can’t even get Adidas or Nike to make our shirts!
Regardless of the above, Wigan have done a fantastic job getting a sponsorship this late in the day (8 days before the season starts) so well done.
Even as a rival fan, I want all SuperLeague teams to have money rolling in as the sport is on its knees financially after the last couple of years and SKY’s money cut.
