Such a character and a fine player. I always chuckle at the dust up he had with Kevin Iro at Wembley in 1990. It was a symbol of the fact he wouldn’t back down against anyone.

Was announced before stef Ratchford’s testimonial tonight. In shock. I grew up watching Dessie. What a tough, tough man. The way he flew in off his wing to smash his opposition centre was borderline illegal. Searing pace too of course, the only man I ever saw who caught Martin offiah from behind. Incredible athlete, taken far too young. RIP mate, thanks for everything.

Sad news and has come as a huge shock to many, far too young.
I remember Des playing for Warrington and at Wembley against us in the CC final, very tough and difficult to put down.

Great player, tough and always smiling.
To say he was rapid as well is an understatement. For the older on here, remember Superstars when he ran an Olympic qualifying time for the 100m!!!
