| Plenty of effort but no go forward, no idea in attack, no kick chase, ill-discipline. Other than that all seems well.
I realise that Lam has to try and talk things up but he is in dreamland if he seriously thinks Wigan can still put a decent end of season run-in together.

| I was going to make a long post but half-way through I realised it was just depressing me, no more needs to be said. Like a lot of very long term fans I suspect the interest and feeling for the club are fading with every increasingly inept "performance" and lack of direction from the top down.
I really fear what will happen in the next game. Keep playing like this and the team are going to get a real hiding soon - if Saints were half the team they were under Holbrook they would have run up 50+

The other week he was touting us as Grand Finalists. The only thing he’s missed off there (or avoided completely) is the common denominator- Adrian Lam.

The only thing I’d disagree with in that article is him bagging the attendance last night. I thought 16,300 was a fine effort all things considered and it’s encouraging that there’s enough people in this town who do care enough to turn out and watch this dross in the current climate. We probably had about 12,500-13,000 Wiganers in there last night and outside of Good Friday games, we wouldn’t do much more than that in normal times.

| I actually thought the club did a good job of the pre match entertainment last night. I thought the build up to the game was good

He is jumping about from one extreme to the other with Wigan, probably to get clicks in fairness. Things are never as bad as they seem but they need to get recruitment spot on this time and they need to get the coaching appointment right.
In times like this everything is magnified and everyone is under pressure and being called out but it’s a knock on effect both ways. The effect of having Lam as coach is that he gets nowhere near the best from any player, the frustration grows, the experienced heads get called out, the young lads get accused of not being good enough, the fans go in to uproar, the crowds drop and pressure comes on the management. On the flip side appoint a good coach and he gets the best from his players, the older heads lead the way, the young lads find it easier and improve, kids who come in find it easier, the fans are buzzing, the crowds increase and nobody talks about the management.
We’re a good coaching appointment and a few good signings away from being where we want to be again. What I’d like to see is us not trying to be clever next season with Wane as some sort of Rugby Director, just bring him back as head coach and give him free reign. Rads needs to tell himself that he’s better served having business lunches with the guys from whisky and tyre companies and let Wane run the rugby side but as head coach. He can do the recruitment side if things in that role and delegate things to guys like Lockers and Peet but let’s not blur the lines by having everyone guessing who is actually top man.

In 2018 I was over joyed Wane was leaving. I’d been calling (on/off) for him to go for months before that IIRC.
Never have I been so wrong or so blinded. Since he left listening to his podcast interviews he’s completely changed what I thought. The only thing that drove him was success in every department from the kit man to the players - and everyone had to buy into it. I’d have Shaun Wane back in charge in a heartbeat but part of me also thinks it’s been and gone. We need refreshing, a clean slate across the board.
The only thing I’m 100% certain of is that if required I’ll chip in for Adrian Lam’s flight home.

I had a couple of silly moments calling for Wane to go (after a thumping away at Catalans I recall once but I was sat lashed on the coach outside the ground) but what a job he did. He had every issue Lam has faced (poor recruitment in the front row, good players leaving and constant injury problems) but other than the odd blip, you knew watch what we were trying to achieve, how we wanted to play and you knew this time of the year was go time and the players would fire up.
I can only imagine how embarrassed he must’ve been with that last night.

Do you? I thought it was poor. The sound from the band was awful, muffled noise.
The best part about last night was 'Sweet Caroline' where for a brief moment in time the Wigan fans and Saints fans sang together in unison. I enjoyed that.
