| If it's true and Williams has signed for Wire then it's disappointing to lose an obvious replacement for Hastings but it's not a massive disappointment. I might be forgetting someone but I'm pretty sure our record on bringing players back and them playing better for us than where they left is 0%. Obviously several have then gone on to play better for other teams. No reason to think Williams would have been any different although I'm still not sure why it seems to happen to us. Either way we're only in the same position we expected to be in at the start of the year.

| I'd be mortified if he signed for Wire. I think he is the best British halfback we have. We have first refusal on him and can pick him up with only £75K on the cap? Hastings and Leuluai going and potentially French?

I don’t know the terms of the agreement but even if we did have ‘first refusal’ surely it would only be if we are willing/able to match salaries being offered elsewhere. It will more likely be budget rather than salary cap and how that budget is to be used across the squad. I’d rather have a couple of quality props than Williams (would obviously prefer both).
It’s claimed elsewhere that Wire have offered 100k more than Wigan. If that is the case there’s only one place he is going and it hasn’t got a pier.

| I'm sorry but if I I was in George's shoes I'd be snapping Warrington's hands off. Its a short career.

At least he already has a GF ring to polish once he's retired.

| What's he going to do to get in the World Cup team this year, I'd be surprised if that was at Warrington who surely are up to the cap.

| It’s a shame if we lose out purely on cash but you have to draw the line somewhere I guess and Moran’s pockets are very deep when it comes to investing in the Wire.
I can’t see us bringing another half in now, though I don’t think anyone would say no to Sezer. Just a shame another player will count a lot more on our cap which means less to invest elsewhere.

Surely if Williams signs for the Wolves then there are serious cash flow issues at Wigan, especially as only £75K of his salary would be counted on the clubs salary cap limit (So its clearly not a salary cap problem by Wigan re signing him)

Might not be that. We might have other irons in the fire for next season and other deals are already in place. I doubt it but who knows. I said it earlier in the thread, Do i want Williams back? yes, Would i lose sleep if he went elsewhere? Not really. He is a good player but i don't think he is a match winner.

Other irons in the fire?
Who can Wigan possibly sign to replace Hastings and also instead of re signing Williams (who will only count as 75K on the clubs cap?)
