Quote: Pieman "but was no where near him, was a blind poor pass that will go down as a Hanley error instead of Halsall which is wrong, the other 2 in the game were his I didnt dispute it, like some in the other games were all him but some are others and are going onto hanleys stats. The Mellor one was a terrible pass from Smith (MOM) that went behind everyone and Hanley chased back and picked up and lost it in contact, also in that game Smith hit him with a bullet hospital pass which would go down as Hanleys but was Smiths terrible ball'"
The Halsall one - He got caught not being prepared for the quick pass when he was unmarked on the wing. Halsall was right to fire the pass out quickly because he would have been tackled if he had taken time over it, and if Hanley catches it then he's in for a try. If the pass had been where Hanley couldn't catch it then fair enough (though I'd question his positioning), but he clearly could catch it as he got his hand to it, just got caught sleeping.
Smith one - It was a bad ball from Smith for sure but Hanley has to take some of the blame there. He made the error because he tried to pick up the ball and run backwards/sideways with it instead of just diving on it, which he had plenty time to do. It's a rookie error from trying to do too much but it's one of many for him unfortunately. Kind of in the same category as the Wakefield one where he nearly gives up a try waiting for the ball to bounce out. He doesn't seem to have that sense of urgency around loose balls, possibly because he isn't used to being up against players who can quickly punish him for it.
