Quote: NickyKiss "As somebody who does pay a lot of attention to stats, especially when it comes to forwards, I will throw his performance in as one where you simply cannot rely on stats to tell the full story. Singleton was full of aggression, constantly talking, was in a running battle with James Graham and has just brought a confidence and leadership that has helped guys around him. Guys like Lees and Amor had slightly better stats but if you ask me who performed a more important role and helped their side more it would be Singleton by a street.
What I will say is he can’t keep knocking out stays like that every week or you do end up getting pillared when the results go the other way. It was a tough game with little room to move though and he more than did his job in that particular game. Mr Combined team would get in a combined team from the night IMO. Not that it matters like, we’ll leave him out and settle for the points instead.'"
He certainly did a lot of shouting in between getting hammered carrying the ball nowhere.
The guys who led the win up front for Wigan were Farrell (56 tackles without missing a single one and making strong yards - brilliant performance), Powell, Bullock and Greenwood plus Smithies with some good aggressive but effective defence.
Singleton and Clubb the least effective of the Wigan forwards IMO - they were simply on the winning side.
