| We’ve been through an era of scooter hookers in this country and that’s made fans over here look at a guy like Powell and think his game is lacking but it really isn’t. He plays 80 mins, his work rate is unbelievable, he’s a leader and sets an example and he’s improved massively with the ball this last two seasons. There’s not many hookers in superleague I’d swap him for all things considered.

| Absolutely. And another thing struck me during the game: those "he's usually third man into the tackle" jibes. Hardly! First man in on plenty of crucial occasions, as he is every week. Couple of good kicks too, as I recall.

| An outstanding performance from Powell. I thought he was a little quiet in attack in our first two games since the restart but he more than made up for it today. He showed a real playmakers instincts as both a hooker and a loose forward (or whatever position he was playing when Hastings went to hooker). Speaking or which, Hastings to hooker worked well during the game too. Some good versatility among our playmakers. Powell, Leuluai and Hastings all appear capable of playing half, hooker and loose forward. Adds some nice fluidity to our attack.

| We looked totally lost at times with neither half, Tommy or Hastings, putting their hand up and controlling the game particularly at the end of sets in the first half.
Sam had to and did start trying to control things, whilst the halves sorted themselves out.
Defence was on point as ever as was his delivery.
Cracking player.

| For me he was our best player. Truly outstanding tonight. I’m always happy to admit I’m wrong and here’s me now admitting I was wrong about Powell. He is truly a key player for us
