| One of the biggest positives for me of the last two weeks is that we’ve bucked the emerging trend (in the main) of new contracts for players mean they put the cue on the rack. We saw Burgess, Hankinson, Clubb, Smithies and Partington sign new deals a few weeks back yet if anything all have kicked on a gear. I believe Burgess butchered a couple of try’s last night but he was better at Leeds then he’s been for a few weeks. Hankinson may be shining due to getting a proper go in his position but in the Anfield and Nou Camp games his mind looked elsewhere and even the simple things looked a struggle. Tony Clubb has looked like a different player at Hull KR and Leeds and the two youngsters have also kicked on (Partington especially as Smithies has been very consistent from day one).
Little signs that Lam is getting the required levels of motivation out of the squad.

It's going to be a difficult decision for Lam next week. Does he play Hankinson for his goal kicking and defence or Sarge for his attack and running metres.
Hankinson last night only made 18 metres which was the lowest of any Wigan player, Sarge regularly clocks up 100m+ and has a big engine, which helps the forwards.

Hankinson also set up two tries, How often does Sarge even set up one
For Me Sarge only gets back in the side through injury, He is gone next year so let Hanky make the 3 shirt his own, As for Sarge and others helping the forwards maybe if they did that a little less then our lackluster forwards would step up and do their jobs correctly
It was stated last night by Bilko or the other one that we where attacking down the right more than we have in a long time, That never happens when Sarge is there.

| Where Sarginson is playing next year is irrelevant, should we have left Bateman and Sutton out towards the end of last year. Do you want to leave Williams out?

| Hankinson stays at centre for me but Sarginson warrants a spot somewhere. There are two options IMO. One is that Sarge takes Sammuts bench spot to cover as a utility or he comes in at fullback with Hardaker probably taking a wing spot.
I’d go the first option with him covering a number of positions.

That's a good shout.
Personally I'd go Sarge at FB, Hank stays where he is and ZH goes on the wing instead of Marshall.
Interesting to see that, if results go our way over the next week, we could be 4th by the 1st July.

| Marshall has been strapped up since his return from injury and is probably suffering for coming back too soon , due to limited wing options he was needed. I would leave him out and put Sarginson to the wing

| I firmly believe in continuing to play someone who is doing well until they stop doing well or a better option comes along. If we do not need big meters from Hankinson he certainly offers something else.

| This is the decision for Lam, where do Hankinson and Sarginson play when both are fully fit?
Last night Hankinson scored a try and had two assists plus seven goals from nine attempts. Hard to say but when the conversions were going over the sense of "we have a good goalkicker here" was palpable. Hanks own try was about 5 meters in from touch and he kicked it. Lockers was mid way between touch and the sticks, he kicked it. Marshall's try was a meter in from touch, he kicked it. The way he was kicking I thought early on that we were going to win it. If he gave me confidence in a win then what it must do for players a bit short on confidence can't be underestimated. I know Hudds Gaskell is a good goalkicker but I thought Hanks would get us through.
After the win at Leeds in someway thanks to Hankinson it was a far more confident performance at Hudds. Perhaps one begets the other

| Hankinson has earned the right to remain in the right centre. Sarginson played well at Leeds and for half a game at Hull KR but before that, he wasn’t playing well at all.
If either leave him out or play him on the wing instead of Marshall. Not for a million quid would I move Hardaker to wing to accommodate Sarginson.
A back line of Hardaker, Burgess, Gildart, Hankinson and Sarginson has pace, skill and hard work plus two goal kickers. Personally I’d leave him out.
