Quote: DaveO "Glad Les Cats won. Never mind history and what it might do for the game, it's Wire who lost and I won't pass on a bit of parochial rivalry and smugness!
That said I felt the video ref decision for Lineham's try was poor. Yes there was an obstruction in the build up but it involved two players who had nothing to do with the move as the ball had passed beyond either by the time they collided. Had the Wire player stopped dead in his tracks there is nothing the Les Cats player could have done to stop the move or Lineham getting in. It's not the first time this season such penalties have been given when those involved were not going to influence the outcome and I don't think the way the rule is being applied is popular with fans. I suspect even less so in Warrington tonight.'"
I can understand why they chalked it off, as Philbin (who had a really good game) did change the direction of his run. Whether the defender was or wasn't going to get anywhere near the ball, is, at the present, all academic. Perhaps there's cause for a rule review and a change. C'est la vie as they say as the best team won. As an aside, will be interesting how Cat's accommodate Sam Tomkins with a Lance Todd winner currently wearing their full back shirt.
