Quote: Simmionis "I understand Lam 2019 and Edwards 2020 in its most basic form and that for a lot fans seems to whet the appetite.
My concern is how this works with transfers a s decisions on players' futures etc.
What might be Lam's taste now might not be Edwards' taste 12 month later.
Greenwood was brought in to replace Bateman but was accelerated because of JoelGate..means we still need a replacement for Bateman.
Williams also being ripped to leave. No leadership or direction in the halves. Lockers with not much left in the tank. Average players like Flower, Isa, Tautai, Powell, Leuluai and Sarginson all probably on hefty deals which are undeserved.
Is next season just a dud year to maybe rebuild and refocus or is Lam given the reigns to make HIS changes or does everything go through Edwards with a view to 2020??
Any ideas/suggestions/comments'"
I think it's pretty obvious there won't be a replacement for Bateman. The press release on that has IL going on about Isa, Greenwood, Faz and the up and coming junior players meaning we are covered.
Lam certainly has a job on his hands because Hardaker is a different sort of player to Sam T who along with Lockers is the only player we have who can organise the team on-field. I think the inadequacies of the team are pretty obvious to all but at least we will get to see if a different coach can get more out of Williams and Powell (or he may even shift Powell out completely) and if some different tactics can elevate the pack into a better unit going forward.
Lam has lost two of the three truly class players we have so unlike Madge who we could see took virtually the same team as Noble had onto a new level Lam isn't even getting as good a side as Wane has now. Unless of course we make some moves to sign other players before next season.
