Dear moto748, what do you think the serious issues are that RL faces now?

Appointing a new controlling body that actually works. Rearranging the current competition so that it actually makes sense. Halting the player drain to the NRL and RU. Getting a much improved TV deal. Improving crowds across the board. Marketing itself to a world that barely even knows it exists anymore. Persuading Australia that the international game is worth it. Improving our coaching standards dramatically. Sorting out the Salary Cap once and for all, so that it doesn't just reward mediocrity and punish excellence ... Plenty to be going on with there, I reckon.

You spell out quite a list but what about the detail. Are we going to have a Sky/Murdoch driven competition were Wigan, Warrington, St.Helens, Leeds and Hull play each other every week and to hell with everybody else! What about promotion/relegation to SL as a path for other teams? or will it become a closed shop just for the elite!

Quality over quantity wins it for me.

In your world (wherever that might be) it seems we should prevent progress and limit quality in order to sustain mediocrity. Quality should never be stifled and if all you’re worried about is names, I’d say you understand very little about rugby league in this county. The list above is an accurate summary of serious issues that need to be addressed. Add to that I’m 47 years old and I’ve never seen us win a test competition involving Australia! Issues indeed that are far more pressing than worrying about team names.

Thank you for your kind remarks, if this is your only contribution it says more about you rather than me. Yes I have put similar statements on other forums but only to find out what other fans think. In the future if I need any further advice from anybody on how to jerk-off or troll I know exactly who to ask. If I need to know about RL I know exactly who not to ask!

Well, you have posted on the Wigan board, we traditionally know nothing about RL, and all about cheating, ask anybody...

I am not only concerned about names. The names are just a manifestation of what I think is wrong. I don't support any particular club (there are none where I live!) but I do support RL. A few weeks ago I went to the Thursday evening game Widnes v Hull (Widnes were well beaten) I joined the 3000 there in a stadium two/thirds empty, I felt I was at a funeral! I don't think the fact we have not beaten Australia in a Test series would have had impact on the attendance. But the game was being televised that evening live by Sky and for whose benefit? England (soccer) have not won the world cup since 1966 but it does not stop city, united and Liverpool et.al. having full houses most home games.
