Interesting that in 10 years of IL in charge we have had 3 coaches, and none of them have been sacked. Compare that with the Whelan era where several coaches were hired and fired, poor on-field performances, and you can see what correct recruitment and stability can do.
I note that the Whelan approach to hiring and firing seems to have rubbed off on young Dave, who is already looking for his 4th manager for the Latics in two years!
I think also worth mentioning that Madge made another key appointment shortly after he joined Wigan in bringing in Mark Bitcon who clearly had a big impact at Wigan during that first pre-season. Some of our players were physically unrecognisable!
Excellent article.
The first 2 years IL was sorting out the finances as wellas not having a suitable successor to Noble.
Once McGuire agreed then joined us we have been in line for trophies every year since. He has been fully vindicated in appointing Shaun Wane.
We have a very good owner and chairman. Wigan RL's record on and off the field testify to that.

Tony Clubb: "This is a new exciting chapter of my life signing for Wigan and I couldn't be happier" 18/10/2013
Romain Navarrete: “I’m very happy to have signed for Wigan Warriors. As soon I knew that Wigan were interested, they were the only team that I wanted to sign for. To me, Wigan is the biggest Club in Rugby League and it will be an honour to pull on the famous Cherry-and-White jersey next year. I look forward to working with Shaun Wane and the players at Wigan.”:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_10172.jpg
