| I don't think everything that's gone wrong can be wholly pinned on SW as a lot of posters have been trying to do for the last couple of years. However, injuries and heads being turned by the dark side can only serve to highlight the lack of depth of talent we appear to be suffering. Dire kicking aside, metronomic plays are only effective when they're new and innovative, but we've simply been found out this year and the rest of the league has worked out how to nullify our attack. This in turn exposes the lack of a plan B from Wane and I think his time is up regardless of where we finish (I just don't have confidence in the squad to get their heads screwed on proper & put a coherent performance together for what's left of the season and it'll be up hill from 4th anyway). I've always been a fan of SW, and it saddens me to accept this.
But what bothers me more is who's likely to replace him? None of the current SL coaches are likely to be persuaded to move (Sheens' worth has to be called into question regardless whether Salford are relegated, although most of that is probably at the mad doctor's door). I'm not convinced I'd want any of them anyway - maybe Radford. Also, I'm not sure who's out of contract in the NRL or if IL would be prepared to shake the moths from his wallet. Who does that leave? MacBanana, John Kear or it's not beyond the realms of possibility IL will save a few bob & promote Matty Peet.
Season ticket price hikes better not be another 10% again this year or I'll be questioning whether a full ticket - or any flavour for that matter - is justified. Keeping the faith is a bit difficult at the moment.

Not sure why some people assume Australian coaches will drop everything and come to Wigan. Theres loads to take into account, they mave have a young settled family in OZ etc etc.'"
But no-one can know what any coach would think about the prospect of coaching Wigan, not just those in Australia. We can only speculate on [ipotential[/i targets.

You do realise that we run an Under 23's team too?

You mean a reserves team? The ones that have about 5 games a year?

| Quote: Rogues Gallery "As I stated above, I think his time has run BUT I wouldn't have a major problem with ONE more year. To be fair to him he's been dealt a real poor hand this year with the injury situation and it's a credit to him for Wigan to be where they are (look at Leeds who have had similar problems) Should we put a director of rugby above him as Salford did? Certainly the "style" of rugby has been poor to watch, but is that down to Wane or the constant changes he's had to make? I honestly don't know, and "our group" have spent hours debating it, without resolution
You've got to strike a balance. Hull have 8 in the squad yes (although Feka was only really kept because we want him for a community development role and he wasn't quite ready to hang up his boots), and that is on the high side. On the other hand 8 members of the cup final winning side were Hull lads, and our squad is packed with academy products. As it stands our overseas total for next year sits at 6.
Wigan's model of having almost a full team of local talent is very noble, but if the players aren't good enough, then what is it achieving? It helps neither Wigan or the national team. An aspiring young player will learn more by playing along side a Mark Minichiello or Sika Manu than they would just being chucked in alongside his mates from the under 19's.
