| It was an odd game, I'm sure a few "neutrals" would have enjoyed the result.
Widnes came with a game plan and stuck to it. Feel free to call Bentham what you will but he had little choice tonight, Widnes deserved to be on the end of that penalty count. A significant number were given for the same thing, the second effort preventing a player from getting up by knocking them down again. Betts in his interview talked about Widnes throwing it away rather than complaining about the ref.
I've no problem with not going for goal with those penalties at the end, if the players at the time thought they could score. It didn't work out however we were totally dominant in the second half and I understand their decision. Taking the 2 points and a draw would have been a much easier option. I thought we should have gone for the 2 with about 20 to go.
I have to applaud Widnes' defence particularly the last ditch stuff. Thompson fully deserved the MOM with a few outstanding efforts.
Overall our first half was poor, second as I said earlier was totally dominant which showed with the number of penalties Widnes felt they had to concede and Brown at the panel with Wells was right when he said they wanted it more.
The thing that really annoys me about this Wigan team is it is far to easy to put us off our game. Time and time again we lack composure. Other teams know this and always come with a game plan to do it. I don't blame them for that and would do the same if I were them. Whether this comes from Wane or not I don't know but we have to find a way to not get rattled and frustrated, be more composed and play the way I know we are capable of. Without taking anything away from Widnes' effort which was very good If we had done that tonight I believe we would have won comfortably.

But 13 v 12 for 18 minutes. Countless penalties. Many Widnes dropped balls. What more did the inept attack need?

I thought Smith was missed last night, he does a lot of organising during a game.'"
Given the points difference and games left, the one point from a draw would have been as useful as a win last night, especially in terms of winning the hub cap. Now we are esentially 3 points behind Hull because of their vastly superior points difference.

Wouldn't argue but I was replying to a post about 13 v 11

A draw would have made a massive difference to Wigan's ambitions to finish top. A draw followed by wins in the last three games would have guaranteed top spot. Now they have to hope results go their way.

Ridiculous decision not to secure a play off spot. Let's see how Catalans go on against Wire.
