I think the other reason Friday's will stay is if you move to Sunday you face the possibility of Sky switching more of your games back to Friday for TV. Which just annoys people even more.
A cast iron fixture list alternating home and away games with no gap while the pitch is dug up would be far better. By the time we get back to the DW after the pitch has been relaid the top positions in the league can be sorted and the league season effectively over as a contest. Did the work this year fix the pitch once and for all or are we due more of the same for ever?

Must admit I never even thought of the potential impact of Sky coming along and reverting games back to the Friday or even Thursday.
