Quote: jonh "Phil Gould described his time in the NRL so far as one of rocks or diamonds. This was again summed up by his latest performance where he took a pass from Inglis broke down the left wing showing real pace, stepped in an he approached the line was hit by the cover defence and had the ball stollen off him in a 1 on 1 tackle just prior to crossing the line.
He has made some very strange errors some that were harder to make than actually undertake a skill correctly but he has also shown some really impressive glimpses as well.
The Roosters played him on the right where he looked lost at sea but he has done great to come back from that experience and start to show what he is capable on the left for Souths.
He has clearly packed on some size and doesn't show signs of slowing his pace. He clearly has some issues with his skills, particularly catching kicks, but hopefully we can keep working on this. He is a confidence player however he is also a natural finisher with a strong kick return and will be better for the experience.
I'm sure he will be right back up there at the top of the scoring charts in 2017 assuming we do something about our attacking style in the offseason, but I also think we need to accept there are always going to be the odd brain fart or 2 a season that will lead to us conceding points also.'"
That's one of the things that I know Wigan and the Aussie teams were working on. I'll just be glad to see him back at Wigan next season, it's just a pity about Manfredis injury as I feel we would have had the best pair of wingers in Superleague.
