Nice to see 4 forwards breaking the 100m mark. Totting up the missed tackle column comes out as 44 which seems pretty high!?
The Burke to hooker experiment is one I don't want to see again. Far too slow and his passing accuracy was dire. Shorrocks had a decent game and could be a good bench option to mix things up if we don't want to go with 4 forwards on the bench. He could either come on for a spell at 9 or come on at 6 with Williams moving to 9.
All in all it was a very low quality, forgettable game but it was good to get the 2 points. I do wonder if SW is being a bit precious about the iPitch and resting players at Widnes has bitten us a few times over the past few seasons. It'll be good to have a few bodies back next week but losing another couple of players last night is a bit worrying. Who plays centre will be interesting if Gells and Sarg are both still out.

| Ian Millward's forecast on the Sporting Life website was "Widnes to win in a high scoring game". Give the man a goldfish.

| Tautai, Sutton, Charnley and Flower all outstanding.
What's the news on Gelling's injury? Straight swap for Sarge next week?

The strange part of Gellings injury is he said he'd felt it again at the start of his comeback game against HKR so why was he allowed to play on in that game and then play last night? It sounded like an accident waiting to happen.
On a side note does anybody find it strange that Farrell and Clubb have only just had operations this week when they were announced as needing them weeks ago? I don't know the working of a sports club but I'd presume they'd go privately and get them done within days.

I guess the first port of call is recovery and rehab before going direct to the knife?

It is surprising how stats can alter a persons thinking, I was surprised that he came well down in he number of carries he made compared to TT, Crosby, Flower and Sutton, but when analysed he came out on top in metres made per carry.
The number of carries by TT was extraordinary though.

Would that be to avoid the op though? Or would they need to do that knowing they still need it?
The reason I'm a bit baffled is they announced they needed these ops weeks back so I then presumed they'd be having them straight away. I'm no medical man though so I don't really know what they would need to do pre op. If it was as simple as a broken leg or arm then it would clearly be done straight away.

I thought Tautai was sensational. Aside from Wire away he's been outstanding this year and is playing with much more desire.
Good to see.

With muscle injuries it might be a case of allowing swelling/inflammation to settle down before operating. I am sure that the medical staff have an idea what they are doing but it is frustrating that the injury list seems to be constantly growing.
