13802_1335794682.jpg The new Saints statue looks like Andy Farrell!!:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_13802.jpg |

| Unfortunately for SW the days of ranting and raving are gone in sports coaching, when the team aren't performing he has generally employed this tactic, Sky will often flick to the half time team talk in the dressing sheds and the silver back will be frothing at the mouth. You look at some of the other coaches in recent times and they are quite tactical i.e. Tony Smith, Brian McDermott, Mag McGuire. Albeit Mag did blow up from time to time and McDermott enjoys a sulk...especially when he has been beaten in his TV interviews, but their records speak for themselves.
SW is on borrowed time and I would fully back seeing a new coach at DW in 2017, we have lost two consecutive GF's which IMO we should have won, it hurts, and quite frankly he needs to start producing results as the team are going backwards. Having watched the games at home to Huddersfield and Hull we looked 'clunky' in attack - players running terrible lines, poor handling, halves not combining well. I don't really have a lot of confidence in Sam Powell at 9 or Matty Smith at 7 and IL has failed to step up and sign a decent 6, in fairness to Sam Powell he has had to step in to replace MM and there in lies the problem we need to guidance and leadership around the ruck and in the middle of the park. The defence looks paper thin...the aging Gareth Ellis in his twilight years carved us up the middle on Friday, say no more.
Whilst Hull FC are a different prospect this year and look injury free and balanced for once, I'm not entirely convinced they are the Brisbane Broncos and will be making a name for themselves come the playoffs. With all the stink happening around Saints, KC and their performances please consider they are 4th and we are 5th?!!
So whilst I have pointed the finger and had a whinge what are the solutions...obviously injuries haven't helped SW but he needs to stop tinkering with the team and find some sort of settled line up. With ST back he can put Sarginson back in his proper position in the centre (considering he doesn't play like he did on Friday again), Bateman is our best forward and needs to play in the 2nd row. Crosby was poor on Friday and needs to give way to Flower when he is fit with Liam Farrell coming back in when he is ready. Unfortunately the 6, 7, 9 conundrum is a difficult one and given his time again I think SW would have retained Logan Tomkins but hindsight is a wonderful thing...if Tommy Leauluai became available then Wigan need to snap him up as he changed the game when RTS was injured against The Dogs a few weeks ago...the reality is that this would not happen until 2017 if it did.
All in all I think SW has gone as far as he can go, I hope I am wrong and then we do the double...but I can't see it at all as ranting and raving is all he has I feel, lets see.

Warrington led 16-2 in Saturday's Grand Final, but their joy was short-lived as Wigan roared back to win the Super League title and extend the Wire's 58-year wait to be champions:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_10174.png |

| Quote: Orrell Lad "I know I sound like a stuck record but we will waltz into the top 4 and most likely be at OT in October. Which annoys me in a sense because we are cack for most of the season but have a habit of turning it on when needed. Saints are similar - they were a 40/20 away from the GF last year and they'd had dog's abuse off their fans most of the season.
If we don't lift silverware this season that will be 3 years without and that's enough for any Wigan coach to be shown the door. We are playing a progressively worsening brand of RL and it needs fresh ideas. Wane can count himself lucky he has had players like Bateman who can drag us to finals regardless of our complete lack of structures and organisation.
I don't agree that we're one of the worst teams in the league, we clearly aren't. But we have miles more potential than we are achieving. People have said individual errors can't be blamed on the coach - I think they can.
A top coach instills focus, composure, confidence and has the team working to clearly understood plans that rub out brainfarts and panic plays. Maguire being the obvious comparison. This current team looks like a rabble potched together with sod all organisation!
Saying all that, we'll t*** Leeds at Newcastle next week
I have to give credit Waney and the players, for all the criticisms of the season we are still only 80 minutes from a championship in our name. Whatever the outcome, the post mortem can be done in the off season. For now, come on Wigan!

I've got a few emotions/thoughts this morning. First is that I'm obviously delighted we've made it to the GF, the effort and spirit on show has been immense.
Second, after reading Matty Smiths comments yesterday regarding the team playing better just playing off the cuff and not sticking to the structure is interesting, to me it seems we've stuck with something that has been broken for 18 months and we've been too stubborn to admit it.
The players have actually played some rugby and looked like they've enjoyed doing it, something we haven't done for most of the year, scoring should be something you joy, not just a relief.

| It feels like alll the players have overcome personnal (on the pitch) demons or have finally accepted that certain (injured) players are not coming back in the team and they are what they are. Whatever it is they are enjoying a new lease of life and its very reminisent of 2003. Lets hope it turns out better this year.

If you don't bother to go to the game when you live in the locality then you are not really a fan and therefore your views are invalid. It's simple.:icons39ad_files/4821-1859san_c-msnicons.jpg |

| Got to say that you look a much more dangerous side when you throw it around in an unstructured way, then every now and then put in your multi-player move when the defence is short on one side.
