| Quote: DaveO "We have a first team squad of 31 players so I don't think the salary cap is any excuse. If when Wane subs Mick Mac we end up on the back foot which we do virtually every time this happens we need to manage the cap differently.
What I mean by that is Wane's game plan of subbing by the clock [irequires[/i us to have another very good hooker in the squad (and another prop at least as good as Flower since he subs them by the clock as well). As we have not got one then Wane either needs to change the game plan or go and find another good hooker. If the salary required to recruit such a player meant we had to reduce the first squad to 29 then so be it. Powell as sub hooker is no good and the fact he can cover other positions doesn't seem very relevant either because he rarely does that.'"
Totally agree. If we rotate our subs as we do the bench hooker is one of the most important players in the squad and that should reflect in his ability and importance on the cap.
Our bench hooker should not be a gap filler given the game time they are expected to play.

If you read the latest (wigan evening news) then it is surprising that McM played as much as he did given that he had little pre-season, only started training fully a week before the Catalan game. I suspect that we will see more of him in games going forward.

| It's not just Wigan who do it though is it? So there is obviously a reason. Just watch the tv games over the next few weeks (here and in aus) and take note.

27588.gif "Games as big as a grand finals define individuals and clubs. Remember we are only renting these shirts, I had my time in Pat Richards shirt. Ellery and Faz had there time in Sean's, Hampo and Radders in Sam's. You have to make a mark in these shirts that's still there the day you hand it over to someone else. So be aware for 80 minutes you are not only playing but also writing history and creating a legacy. How many people get to actually write history, not many. A big stage demands big players, be inspired. You play for Wigan, now go do it. Good luck." - Martin Offiah, 2010.:27588.gif |

| It will be interesting to see how it's handled if we end up reducing our interchange down to 10 or 8 in the future. The NRL are cutting down on this and it will mean forwards will be required to do longer stints.
Players like Isa, Farrell, Bateman etc will be invaluable as they play big minutes and can cover various positions.

| Robot like coaching again......which Noble was slaughtered for.
We need to bring more imagination to using the interchange bench.
I know they will be using statistics they have from training and pre-season to when they get to the red line of being over worked but changing Micky Mac when he ok to carry on is just stupid.

Agreed. Was a testament to his desire and dedication to see him play.
