Congratulations firstly to our u19s for once again winning the Grand Final!
We made it tough at times against Cas and did perform poorly for a while but we recovered and had a convincing win. We blew them away second half and for spells of it played better than we have at any time this season - great to see.
Of course we all would have liked the shield, but I'm very glad Leeds did beat Huddersfield. I much prefer to see our current scenario of playing Huddersfield rather than St Helens. I don't want to jinx them, but Huddersfield do have a reputation for bottling it in the games that matter at the business end of the season. Additionally, I could imagine playing Saints in the semi-final being fiesty with it being a derby and, whilst id expect us to win, it would surely increase the chances of us picking up injuries. Very glad we have Huddersfield. If we do beat Huddersfield, the extra days rest after playing on Thursday will give us a head start in preparation for potential Grand Final and players will have played and have recovery out of the way whilst St Helens and Leeds still have to battle it out against each other in what will be a ferocious contest.
You wont see anyone from the club admit it, and they obviously woudnt have minded finishing first (even if just for financial reward) but I bet there are a lot of people who when they have time to think it over are quietly happy Leeds have beaten Huddersfield.
