Gildart's statistics are really quite remarkable. I only ever look at the match statistics briefly, but I can't remember anyone ever doing better per average carry, not even Gelling in his better games where he has exceeded 200 metres ( but with approximately 20 carries, so only an average of 10 - 12 metres per carry). To average over 17 metres per carry ( 174 in 10 carries) is truly outstanding and bodes well for the future. He is obviously still a work in progress, but as he bulks up naturally and gets stronger and thus better defensively, he should become an excellent and very valuable Wigan player.

I saw one of his runs on superleague fulltime last night and it was outstanding. He did the winger for pace on the outside and bust through two cover defenders before being hunted down by Milner (although if he'd have backed his pace he may have got there).

His run from a kick to set up a Locke try was also very impressive. He can certainly attack!

The first one you mention was the one I was impressed with, some very good work shown in that break.

It had a bit of everything. Good pace, footwork and strength.

Very good signs from a kid who must have had some nerves with it being his debut at first team level.

On the highlights last night it did look like Gildart had a tougher night in defence this week which is obviously his weak area. It'll come though as he gets older and more experienced.
