| Can anyone tell me if you will still get something for annual winning the league? Akin to the current leaders shield?

The same thing I assume, not that it really matters to anyone but the winners

| Quote Grimmy="Grimmy"First round out the super 8s should have been Magic Weekend IMO. Other than that really happy with the move. Top 8 play offs were a joke and I've always hated that the regular season has been so unimportant. Look at the league table this year, the battle between us, Saints, Leeds, Cas, Wire and Hudds to make the top 4 would be really fierce and potentially make our last two games (Leeds and Wire) must-win. As it is I expect us to rest quite a few and not really throw everything into winning either with the play offs round the corner. Ideally I'd have preferred the play offs to be like so as well:
Week 1 - Qualifiers
A 1 v 2
B 3 v 4
Week 2 - Final Eliminator
C Loser A v Winner B
Week 3 - Final
D - Winner A v Winner C
That system means you have to beat everyone who finished above you to be champions, guarantees either 1st or 2nd will play in the grand final and makes winning from 3rd or 4th a more challenge (3 wins on the bounce when 1st or 2nd can win 1, rest a week then win another or lose then win 2). When it comes to the play offs there's not a lot of reward gained by finishing higher than 4th under either the current system or the new one which needs looking at IMO.'"
I like both of these ideas. Starting the Super 8 with the Magic weekend would add extra spice to the fixture and it would avoid the uneven number of home and away fixtures in the super 8 phase. If the qualifiers were included then it would add an extra game to the Magic weekend meaning 4 games each day. It would be great for the Championship clubs giving them a big day experience. It would add further incentive for the championship teams outside the top four to finish inside the top to qualify for the Magic weekend.
I also like your top 4 play-off system which is the same principle as the old top 5 system. I think that is fairer and would produce some great games. The first game 1v2 with the winner going straight to the GF would be a corker as it used to be with the old top 6 system. It also gives more value to finishing in the top 2 whereas a straight top four play-off could encourage teams to 'play the system' and finish 4th then going all out in the play-offs.

| Quote WARRIORCRAIG="WARRIORCRAIG"Because there have still been 2 whipping boys, so the league needs reducing, for starters. I agree that changing the league structure won't automatically make more teams challenging to be champions, it's up to the clubs themselves to change that. But what this structure gives us is more games between the better teams, and fewer games between title contenders and teams that simply aren't good enough, which often end up as dull training exercises.
I don't understand specifically what you think it is that makes the current system better than the incoming one? Yes it's odd with the leagues splitting, but a lot of people seems to think that's automatically bad and would much rather have us playing to a football league-style structure, which wouldn't work in RL in a million years.'"
I still don't like the idea and ultimately i think it will fall flat on its face, thats not wishful thinking thats just my opinion. Yes the super league needs a change as it has become stagnant and dare i say it boring this is also reflected in attendances, however i don't think that this concept is the way forward.

You acknowledge that there needs to be a change and yet your posts don't offer a solution. You have a said alot about what you don't like. How about offering some suggestions about what you think would work?

I don't know the solution but I don't think splitting a league into three is the answer. The people at red hall get paid the big bucks to make decisions, I pay my money to be entertained.

| Quote WARRIORCRAIG="WARRIORCRAIG"This is the attitude that completely baffles me. So you're expecting Wigan to finish in the bottom 4 next season then, because that's the only way we'll face Champs opposition next year? If anything you'll get more value from a season ticket because you'll get to see 3 or 4 games against Leeds/Saints/Warrington/Hudds etc in place of the London and Bradford games.
But if you prefer watching us beat Bradford 84-6 as opposed to a close game against top 8 opposition in a more meaningful league system then you go ahead and get rid of you're season ticket.'"
After just getting home from the game I didn't really see any whipping boys in Bradford shirts, I rest my case.

What aboit the rest of the season? They've lost 17 games out of 22 and let in an average of nearly 40 points a game. They have come up with a massive shock result, but they're still the whipping boys and don't belong in the league currently. Hopefully they will rebuild in the Championship and come back stronger

Not to mention a similar strength squad to today's put 84 on them on the back of a 3 day turnaround after playing Saints. Bradford played well today, probably the best they've played all season (I've obviously not seen many of their games) but today's result was mostly down to how bad we were.

| We were poor granted but that's a lot to do with us having no plan B, Bradford did their homework and did a job on us, very similar to cas in the cup.
